Up Next, Revell 1:48 Scale B-24 Liberator & Mrs. Toshi's Insanity
Posted by Toshi on Saturday, April 25, 2015 6:15 PM

To my fellow forum members,

Either Mrs. Toshi has lost her mind or she really loves me.  LOL!  You see, on May 8th Mrs. Toshi will head back home to Honolulu, Hawaii for a bussiness trip for 10 days.  During this time frame, in order to keep me in line and out of trouble, she has purchased so far 3 scale model kits.  A Revell 1:48 Scale P-38 Lightning, Minicraft 1:72 Scale PBM-5A Mariner, and a Revell 1:48 Scale B-24 Liberator.  Tomorrow at 8:30pm, she also has a final bid on a Tamiya 1:32 Scale P-51 Mustang with 5 Photo Etch Sheets.  That's not all, she insists on me purchasing a Revell Monogram 1:48 Scale B-17 Flying Fortress.  Insanity at its best.

Well, as I am a firm believer as my other hobby of which is the collecting of football cards are as simple as this; "In order to have a successful hobby, one must have the right tools for the right job".  I'm sure all hobbiest around the world will agree to this saying.  So today, we hit two of my favorite all time stores, Hobby Lobby and Harbor Frieght Tools.

Mrs. Toshi utilized the 40% discount electronic coupon at Hobby Lobby.  At Hobby Lobby, she purchased a Revell 1:48 B-24 Liberator $39.99 with 40% off that comes to approximately $25.00, a braided Iwata airbrush hose $27.99, and a Iwata NEO Airbrush $79.99 with 40% off that comes to approximately $45.00.  How much better can this go?  At Harbor Frieght Tools Mrs. Toshi went full blast to obtain a airbrush holder that holds four airbrushes $9.99, a airbrush cleaning bottle $7.99, and a airbrush compressor kit with a dual action siphon airbrush complete set for $89.99.  I was hooked up, Mrs. Toshi said if I liked one or the other airbrush, just return one.  If I liked them both, keep'em both.  With my Testors camoflouge airbrush kit, I now am a proud owner of three airbrushes in a matter of a week.  Things are really starting to get exciting here at the house of the Toshi's.  Below are some photographs to show you what's going on here at my home in Streetsboro, Ohio.  Insanity or love?  I think it's a little bit of both, insane love!  LOL!!!

Oh My !    What a wonderful mate you have there.   All that would certainly keep ME out of trouble  LOL.   I bet you can't wait to practice with the new airbrushes.

Very cool that the compressor has the water seperator/ regulator already attached.

I use those little cleaning brushes all the time as well.  Love Harbor freight.

Yes, it's a bit overwhelming, I'll just take my time, organize my new equipment and take things one step at a time.  The compressor was Mrs. Toshi's idea, she has that woman's intuition.  Thank you for the read and reply!

Woah Toshi! You're better set up than I am by a long shot! Mrs. Toshi reminds me of my Dad right now. He already ordered me 7 MiniArt figure sets and yesterday he ordered another 8 plus some extra heads and told me to browse through Live Resin for more. Its overwhelming. I'll be gleefully following your progress my friend. :)

To MBrindos,

Mrs. Toshi definately took care of my scale model needs, now I just need to continue practicing and honing my skills to be as or almost as good as you and the forum members of FSM!  Mrs. Toshi has already set me up with a years subscription of FSM as well.  I love her so much for what she does for me and going through and being there during my injury as well as my recuperation.

To wolfhammer1,

Yes, she is.  If Harbor Freight does not have the equipment depicted, you can go online to order it for delivery.  They actually have a huge inventory of air brushes and accessories, from siphon feed, to side feed and they range from $10.00 to $15.00.  They also carry kits with 5 airbrushes to cater for proffesional artist, cake designers, manicure, and T-Shirt to name a few.

I'm thinking you better keep Mrs. Toshi around, and if she could give my Mrs. some tips I'd be very grateful!  Nice supplies!

Believe it or not you will probably like that Harbor Freight AB a lot. I have a Central Pneumatic and a Badger. I find that the CP works better with acrylics than the Badger, the only thing I don't care for is it's a suction feed.

That's quite a wife you have there. Mine will go insane once in a blue moon, but not to that extent.

To modelcrazy,

Yes, the Harbor Freight has some really good qualities especially for $20.00.  It also has it's negative share in a limited situation.  I also don't care for a siphon feed as the bottle gets in your way.

I'm just glad that Mrs. Toshi also chose for me a Iwata NEO gravity feed airbrush.  The NEO will do its job and them some.

To Roger-wilco,

Unfortunately I will not be attending the model show in Columbus.  To drive is too far.

Thank you for the inquiry.

Hi Toshi,

I'm hoping I can make it to the show in July.I attended an IPMS show back in April and found some really good kit bargains. It was held at Wright Patterson AFB.I live near Cincinnati so Dayton is roughly (depending upon traffic)  45 minutes to an hour away. Regarding acrylic paint,my favorite is Testors Acryl which has given me good results over the years. It also hand brushes really well...Douglas

You are a lucky man.

Wow, you're really close to Columbus.  I hope they do a model show here in Cleveland.  I didn't know Testors has acrylics?  I learn something new everyday!

Thanks for the read and reply,

Here is the next step of the build, joining both halves together.  No gap issues, I'll just sand down the ridges here and there.

Toshi,

The Testors Acryl line is (in my opinion) a quality line of paints. This link provides a color chart of what the line offers:
