I wanted the finish to look like it's been around a while. I didn't want it ti look super shiney. However, I am not sure that it is possible to make Testor's Metalizers to look real shiney.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the great tips and techniques. I have been reading this magazine for years, but did not have the time to build a model until  I retired last year. I am also into building model cars. This photo is of my 1/12 scale Ford GT40 MK II

The plane is painted with Testors' metalizer in a rattle can. I sealed the metalizer with Testors' metalizer sealer.   I used Testors' Createfx black acrylic wash. The wash was applied with a brush and immediately removed with a paper towel that was damp with acrylic thinner. The paper towel was folded into a stiff pad and was lightly drawn across the model. When I first tried the wash I followed the instructions that were on the bottle which states that the wash should be allowed to dry before removing it. That did not work for me. It was almost impossible to remove the wash after it dried. SO now I remove the wash immediately after it is applied.
