I got one in a " Goody Box " from a friend . It's 1/48 scale and has a heckuva lot of parts . Is it a good build ? It's by Airfix and the molding looks great .The box isn't though . It has parts for both the 46 and 47 versions , whatever that means .

       To me , the idea of contra - rotating props and that sleek nose got me at the get go .

Look at Wiki.

Of course it's a good model, what would you compare it to?

Those are some of Airfix's best 1/48 kits. Just get a Vacuform canopy if you want it open, otherwise it sits too high on the rear spine. The kit prop blades are a bit mis-shaped and thick too, but that can be fixed with sanding or an aftermarket prop.

Hey G.

  I wasn't looking to compare it to anything  . It just surprised me that it even existed . I don't have very many British planes period , and none of the Spitfires of any variety .

   Now , that said , the quality of the plane compared to other Airfix kits I have , did indeed surprise me .

I'm teasing you, graybeard. I never even knew that kit existed, of a somewhat unusual subject.

I grew up building kits that were good enough if they had two wings and a tail. I think you have something kind of special there.

You Know ;

   I think I do to . Now the dilema is this .The FR - 46 is just like a regular land based Spitfire .The FR - 47 is definitely a ship based aircraft .The only thing is the 47 has purpose built folded wings . I don't think I am going to build it that way though .
