The only thing : Like most of Revell's PBYs the clear parts weren't the greatest .

Joe , I think , over the years I've built more PBYs and SA 16 bs than most . If it floats and flies , no matter whose flag was on it I built it !

i remember seeing them in L.A. too . For those who wanted to get to Santa Catalina faster - of course we called it Catalina Island !

When I was a kid on Long Island (NY) back in the 1970s I used to see them all the time when I was at the beach. Nassau county must have owned quite a few. I asked my dad about it once and there were a lot of them surplus at the end of WW2 and they were sold off by the Federal government.

Revell released the kit as "Cousteau's PBY" back in the early 70's. With a little work & kit bashing or aftermarket parts, it can be used to build a navy PBY-6 w/ tall tail.

This is crazy :

Yes! At the same flea market where I mentioned acquiring the AMT/ERTL truck kit , I found a P.B.Y. -1/72 scale and all there ! $ 9.00 Bucks ! Again my friend had been looking for one . Well , after talking to him , this too will find it's way up to Yankee Land !

It was the Revell release of the one used by the Cousteau's on the job . Great looking plane and kit !
