Should look good out of the box with plenty of detail on it's own. Just get a clean build, fill any seams, and concentrate on a good finish and I think you'll be satisfied.

    " Punn "y you should say that .There is though a lot that can be done on an out of box bird .Just be patient and build slower than you would otherwise .I built a Revell , Mosquito Bomber out of the box ( the big one ) and took home , Best Large Plane for my efforts  .Everyone was saying it wouldn't build into a decent bird . Fooled them , I did ! O.O.B.Too !

Thats a great kit.  I built it years ago on commission.  It shouldn't give you too may problems.  How about a work in progress thread?

Despite its age the Revell A-6 is actually a pretty descent kit, and doesn't necessarily need a resin cockpit and photo etch details.  You could always re-scribe the panel lines ( which is free, but painfully tedious), but it builds into a nice kit out of the box.  A good paint job and some weathering techniques are low cost and as Jay Jay indicated above, this forum is awash (see what I did there?) with helpful tips and techniques on how to make the most of household supplies and techniques that are friendly to your wallet.

Man, there's many ways, too many to list, to inexpensively upgrade an oob model.  Scratchbuilding ,if that interests you is one ,  Another way to make a model more realistic is the use of washes.
