Bob

Excellent job on that Uhu. The camo came out looking outstanding. I bet those radar antennas were a PITA to align.

Bish

I never completely trust specially Dragon or any other kit maker (except Wingnutwings) for their color callouts. Remember the color Eduard listed to paint the ammo cases in my 1/35 Hetzer? WNW on the other hand puts out very good reference material with their products.

No, i don't either. I use my own guides for painting. It was the fact that i saw it some where else, i think in one of my books, that threw me a bit. I just wanted to se if it was somthing unique to teh 219. I knew they are normally RLM 70 or 71 depending on whether they are wood or metal.

I painted the props Tamiya black-green, which to me looks a lot like RLM 71. A lot of the models I saw online were that color, and that's what my instructions said as well.

Bod, thanks, thats the colour i thought they should be. It just thew me off reading Dragon's instructions.

Thanks PJ! It took a bit of improvisation to set up some jigs for them. They're not perfect, but good enough

Bob, what colour did you paint the prop blades. I keep reading black, including the Dragon instructions. But that goes against everything I have read on German propellers.

That's is a real stunner Bob. You have done this lovely looking aircraft really justice. I can certainly see why that antenna gave you so much trouble, a big well done just for getting that straight.

Well, here she is all finished.  I have to say that this kit was an absolute blast to build.  The only major problems (other than painting that camo) was trying to get the front antenna array to line up and not droop.  But after it's all said and done, I'm proud of this one.  Sorry about the quality of the photos, my cell phone was fighting me on taking decent pictures.  On to the next!

I put the final touches on today, but I have to go out of town for a funeral and won't be able to post pictures until the weekend.

I'm making slow progress.  I added some soot for the guns and some exhaust streaking.  With any luck I'll be finished by the end of the month.

Thanks guys! I've attached the landing gear bay doors and a couple other fiddly bits on the bottom. Next chance I get to spend more than a few minutes at the bench I need to scratchbuild a couple of antennae that go on the bottom of the port wing since I accidentally threw them away. Shouldn't be too much work though. Then I need to decide whether it would be easier to attach the radar antennae and then the wire antenna on top or vice versa.

Decals is always my favourite part. As you say, it turns it was just a plane to a plane you can identify. Joe, I look forward to seeing what you do with those which ever you decide.

Thanks Lawdog! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I just need to get enough benchtime in. This has been a great kit to build and a lot of fun, even with the frustrating paint job.
