Revell Fw190 F-8, Question regarding instrument Decal
Posted by Sackgasse on Saturday, July 25, 2015 7:05 AM

Right,
First day of the vacation. It is raining.
The better part is enjoying a weekend with sister in law, the daughter is away for 2 day rave party, the dog just couldn't care less.

So I got myself this for a weekend build :)

Der Schlächter, Fw190 F-8

I would like to ask for your help please:
The engine room is descibed as Helloliv, Matt 45 or light olive in english.
The cockpit is supposed to be Staubgrau, Matt 77 or dust grey.

Would anyone have a Tamiya recipe?

Cockpit color is rlm 66, or tamiya German gray. All other interior colors are rlm 02, or tamiya rlm gray.

This is probably the best kit I have seen ever.

That does not count for much since I only have like 6 recent builds.

But this kit gives me a 1970 feeling, cut the parts and start assembling and painting.

But with a 2015 quality.

At this stage when I am still looking through the sprues the WOW factor is 100%.

This is the engine dry fit:

The real deal:

The engineering team have decided to provide a base:

Gives me a nostalgic feeling,I am back to the Airfix 70's :)

I posted comments on this very same new release not too long ago. As you said it's a wow of a kit. The only part that needs some attention is the pit that can easily be dressed up with an Eduard set. The engine is a kit in itself. ROG keeps cranking out superb kits at a very low cost to the consumers.

Oh wow, what detail is involved.  That's a great kit from Revell of Germany!  I'll be following your progress.

Nice! I have it, but have yet to start it. I'll definitely be watching the progress here.

Hi Nathan,

Yep.  I usually add a tad XF-19 Light Grey to the 66 and some XF-49 Khaki to the 02.  Thats me though.  Nice Beemer 801.  I loke the reference picture too.  Too bad all that detail will be hidden behind the fan.

I've got one in the pile. It's a really nice kit. Done some mockup and am impressed. Not at Tamiya level in fit and engineering but for the price it's a real bargain. You can go aftermarket crazy on this one and be right at what a Tamiya kit is itself.

The above comments are right about color. It's RLM 66 and 02, but I don't think Tamiya's versions are the closest to being "correct." But it really only matters if you like it or not. Sometimes close enough is good enough.

Thank you for taking interest and your comments!

I wanted to get soe more blue to the panzergrau so i opted for Field Blue XF-50.

Here is the refernce picture that I am using:

And here the samples:
Big difference depending on the light as you can see:

Decals are provided for the instruments.

In your experience, will the be able to conform to the quite prominent details of the bezeels?
