How to Apply Instrument Panel Decals?

On some kits like that I have drilled out the plastic and glued the decal sheet behind the panel (backing and all, don't wet decal and slide off).  I fill the recess with some of that window making material to give a better gloss representation of the glass.

It depends how detailed the IP is. If it's just flat with some anemic details then it's best to punch each instrument and add the decal with a sheeet of plastic sandwhiched together. If details are sharp and rich then I punch out each individual decal and attach them to the proper instrument. Lots of Solvaset will make the decals snuggle down. Then I use Testors Clear Parts Cement for the glass faces.

Here is the IP for a 1/32 Revell Bf109G-6 using my MicroMark mini punch.

I apply the decal as I do any other decal. Then give it quite a few coats of Micro Sol. After a few coats, the decals hugs down beautifuly over any raised detail.  The trick is lining up the decal instruments over the raised detail!
