Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1A Corsair

I finally got back to, and finished, the Tamiya Corsair for the "Going Big GB". The engine was posted on the completed page so here's the "engine display case"

Additions to the kit:

Vector R-2800 resin engine and cowl flaps

Barracuda wheels and cockpit placards

Xtradecal sheet X32057

Scratch built welded steel tail wheel extension

1st pic is the engine pre-installation. I used 48 of the 78 resin parts in the bag then added details to bring the part count to 221. Temp stand made for display at my club meeting and keep it safe while the rest f the kit was built.

Could you say something more about that "Vector" engine? It is beautiful. I am an engine nut and would maybe like to build just that engine, but I am not familiar with Vector. Do they have a web site, and who carries their stuff?

Hey guys, thanks so much for the compliments.

It's available for a few places. Sprue Bros has it for about $35. I saw it at Ultracast for the same price but since that's Canadian bucks it works out cheaper. You would have to figure shipping in the final price too but it's already 25% cheaper.

Here are the parts form the bag. They are really tan... can't figure that color shift. These are little gems for sure.

That's some real nice modelling there Marc. Beautiful work on the plane, really like the finish. And that engine is just something else, a shame to cover so much of it up.

doing good thanks! Unfortunately real life in the last year or 2 have robbed me of some modeling time. I love your salvage corsair so much, I think I'm gonna steal it and build my own! :) I've been into unique finished lately, just did a tigermeet f-16 and got a polish mig-29 with special decals too.

Modeling time comes and goes. More important you are well. Steal away. I did. Decals are available in 1/48 too. I want to look for 1/72. It would be a cool series to have this in a few scales. But the only thing unique as far as markings is the NZ5272 and that could be done with dry transfers in any scales I guess.
