Rick - I've been watching this one come along in the Mustang GB, and it turned out REALLY nice! I don't think I've seen checkers painted, let alone painted so flawlessly. That one is definitely something to be proud of.

Rick,
A lovely P-51! Years from now, people will be looking at pictures of models on the internet and will wonder, "I don't remember an aircraft named 'Amorous Len III'" and then try to find it in an aircraft data base (without luck). You've created a legend!
Gary
Dang Son !! That looks killer. Nicely done !!

2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed
14 / 5 / 2
The P51D Mustang is finished
The only boob boob I did , was the name of the plane . Amorous Len 3 . I did not know there was to be a Gl and g in front of the name . They were not attach to the name . My lack of experience . So the name stays Amorous Len 3 .
I highly recommend this kit . Everything kit great and easily assemble .
I will start a new build
Tamiya 1/48 scale Focke Wulf Ta183A
I will be working on/off on the ch 53 build
Enjoy
Rick
GAF Rick, Great job on that paint job! Came out very nicely. In your first picture, it looks like the landing gear are a little off. Could be a trick of the camera, tho. And "Amorous Len"? I laughed when I saw that. Gary

thanks a lot .
i think everyone has laugh at that name . I'm going keep it now. It's with the plane now .
I think the landing gear is off little too
I don't build planes . i do helicopter but I really like these darn planes . They are fun .
I just wanted to do little update on my progress .
I have about 80 percent on the decals installed . Maybe later today or this week .
Then Alclad Aqua Clear .Light panel line highlight . Finished up with Alclad Semi Matt finish
lawdog114Stunning work. The checkers certainly do look better painted. I do the same. Where did you get that steel circle template? I've been looking all over for one. Joe
thank you
dickblick, I have one not far from me

"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
GreenStyrene48 I like your two tone silver finish. Really highlights what was bare aluminum vs painted silver. Also nice job on the invasion stripes. What white paint did you use? To get enough opacity from the last invasion stripes I painted the paint ended up so thick it made a distinct raised border around the stripes!

Paul Budzik has great videos . One video talks about paint and tape edges . Can't remember which one

Enjoy Rick
Nice. Looks great. Didn't know you did fixed wing aircraft as well.
You did a great job on that nose checkering, Rick. Cutting out and applying individual squares of tape indicates to me that you too are a sufferer of ASD / AMS.
I have the top engine cover painted . I also highlighted couple panels on the wing
I really think this is turning out good .The kit is a very nice , that may help out a lot
I just want to show my tape station for cutting straight line and squares evenly
this set up helps keep tape clean . I can cut what length and width.
Oh My ! that's a beautiful aluminum finish you've put on there' my weakest point.
In fact I am on my second try for my 1/48 Hsg. F-86. had to redo the black base because i didn't listen to the guys on here and used Alclad Base black and it never dried. I complained to Alclad about their product but they simply ignored me.
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
I have the strips on the wing finished . i finished the front checkered design red and yellow .
The front propeller is just mocked up, not glued in .
Yowza, that's looking really really nice. You are totally killin' it with the paint work. So nice!!!
Thanks again all
Little more update . Started the painting on the nose .
The panel behind exhaust , I shaded that with Alclad Dark Aluminum .
First off show off my little model . Lucy .. Nigie ran under the couch .. Camera shy
That came out really well! Good thing the Alclad doesnt peel off when you put tape over it?
No bucks, no Buck Rogers
