From the department of fluff:

The Vindicator was primarily a scout plane with a bombing capability. They also served as the Chesapeake in the Royal Navy.  Unofficial Nicknames, USN: "Vibrator", "Wind Indicator"; Fleet Air Arm: "Cheesecake".

Chasing the ultimate build.

I have been wanting a -1 for quite some time now. The yellow wings and the willow green tail of USS Ranger is absolutely beautiful.

There is one on Evil bay right now, $60 + $16 shipping, that's why I've waited, too much money.

Been wanting one of these for quite some time now, but they just never show up for reasonable price. Finally nabbed one on Evil bay for under $40. All the sprues are still sealed on it's in perfect condition. Can't wait to build it up. Along with my TBM, my TBF, my Dauntless, my Helldiver, my......oh, gotta get a Devistator, but you get the point.

I'm so glad that your item didn't get lost like mines did.  I'll be following this thread.

Brandon-  My LHS had a windindicator on the shelf, I'll have to see what/scale and brand and varient, if it's still there.  Was under $25 IIRC.  Will PM if it is an early one.

Oooh, very nice Brandon. You've got to love anytime you add an Accurate Miniatures kit to your stash.

On this kit I am planning an early '42. I will attempt to locate a -1 and do a yellow wing or Pearl Harbor version from that one.

Great catch BK. That is a very good kit with recessed details.

I nabbed at one of the model shows the old Revell/Monogram TBD-1 with the histocal book and a detailed article on the attack on Pearl complete with drawings on the aircraft, ships and weapons used for the attack for $12. The book alone must be worth at least $8. It has a bunch of detailed color photographs.

Wow, what a score. There is just something about these fighter/bomber, dive bombers that I really like. I have several in my stash. Been waiting till my skills were up to snuff to build them. I'm ready.
