After seeing an I-16 in person it really is a small plane but kinda... well... on the chunky side.

That's a nice little airplane, emphasis on "little." I plan to build an I-16 type 10 (or two) in 2016, so it's nice to see one already done.

Having personally worked around F-111's I can say without question that it is a BIG bird. Much larger than F-15 or A-10. The I-16 was not big and I always thought it was funny looking, but I like it. They were supposedly quite a capable little fighter in the right hands.

After doing the 1/48 FB-111 I wanted a quick build. This is not too bad a kit I guess, except for the wings fit to fuselage which needed some work. The instructions are also a bit vague on where all the landing gear door parts sit exactly.

Paints used - Mr Hobby enamels for main camo. Other paints used - Tamiya, Vallejo, Gunze Mr metalizer(dark iron) AK Extreme metal (aluminium on band around engine cowl).
Flory dark dirt wash and Vallejo polyurethane matte varnish.

My last completed build before Xmas, so Merry Christmas everyone!

First up, how small is an I-16? Here it is on top of an F-111 same scale
