Great job.  I'm jealous, I built same one and my paint job wasn't as good as yours.  Lenny

Thanks everyone!  Very much appreciated.

Thats really nice, great job on the scheme. I have this in the stash, how was it to build.

The major parts are a breeze to put together.  But Ive spent too many years building 3rd and 4th gen jets Id describe the build sequence as quite different. I think its the weapons bays.  The main landing gear struts and their doors can be tricky.  The canopy support strut is really flimsy; I replaced it with a stainless steel rod.

Painting a 5th gen aircraft is also tedious.  Ive never used that mush masking tape on a modern jet.

I built my F-22 without the tanks but, then I added them. There is something about wings without tanks or ordinance doesn't sit well with my mind for some reason.

The F-22 has low observable and non-low observable missions.

That makes 2 of us.  I was about to respond to ygmodeler, I like my jets "packed."  I guess thats the reason why Ive never built a Thunderbird or Blue Angel.

Gorgeous Raptor. And at 1:72...nicely done.  I hear it's not different from painting and weathering 1:48 stuff, but I don't know if I believe that. =D lol.

Thanks for sharing.

With today's kit details, yes, its not much different. Except, of course, for the size.  I do build the occasional 1/48 kits for select friends.

Beautiful job, I'd swear she was 1/48th or 1/32nd too!

Beautiful Raptor, Allan. Not your fault, but i thinks its a travesty to mess up those gorgeous line with huge fuel tanks, dang fuel limitations.

Looks bigger. One of the marks of a great model. Nice start to the year.

I agree with Wing_nut, it looks like a larger scale. Great job, Allan!

I have to give kudos to all the 1/72 scale builds lately. They all have been so detailed they all look like larger scales!

F-22 Raptor: First Off the Plant!

So here’s my first finished kit for 2016.  It’s the 1/72 Revell F-22A Raptor.

I added details to the instrument panels, ejection seat and canopy. Added details as well to the weapons bays and the otherwise bare looking gear well. I also sanded down the entire surface to tone down the panel lines, and dropped the flaps.

Painted using Gunze colors and followed the Hasegawa paint guide.  It may not look like it in the pics, but in person the metallic hue is visible.

Comments always welcome.
