lawdog114You would have thought that Dauntless was Accurate Miniatures. they are both outstanding..Thanks for sharing.
Joe, that is mighty nice of you to say! Your comments mean a lot to me. You are welcome, and thanks so much!

Thank you! They're really just a pair of "four-footers"!
Nice work.
I have a bunch of old Mongram kits bagged, bought them on eBay years ago for quick builds. I recently put together the F4F, and I have cleaned up the parts on my P51. I will build the P51 straight from the bag, the Cat was built the same way. There is also a 109 I used for parts in a kit-bash project that still sits in a box, and a FW190 which is missing the directions.
hogfanfs Tex, Hard to believe those were built 20 years ago. They look great and I really like your back drops!

Thanks Bruce, I really appreciate the kind words! I always try to take the models out to the local airport. It's only about four minutes from my house and as long as the wind isn't too gusty, it makes for a great setting. And, of course, I love using that natural sunlight for the pics. I have also used the airport at a neighboring small town for some pics. These were taken at the Coffield Regional Airport in Rockdale, Texas.

I threw out all my old builds. I smoked at the time and they were all staining a brownish color. Funny, that would be considered good weathering technique now! lol

Thanks allan! That is so nice of you to say. I'm glad you enjoyed them!
No bucks, no Buck Rogers
Thanks Brandon and Gamera! Good ol' Monogram kits, still quite accurate in outline and shape. As for drilling all those leetle holes, "Patience young Jedi!"
best regards, Gary
They look good to me Tex, again proves it's not the model but the builder!
I do think you're insane (though in the best possible way!) for drilling out all those holes in the Daultless's dive flaps!

Cool! Thanks Glenn, I'm glad you like it.
Another view (man, look at those ragged paint lines on the canopy! ):
Both of these are ancient 1/48 Monogram kits, and both were built around 20 years ago now. The Spitfire Mk IX has an entirely scratch-built cockpit, resin wheels/tires and a vac-formed canopy from Squadron. Underwing radiators were filled with parts cut from old model car radiators. The camo was sprayed with my venerable Paasche H.
The Dauntless is pretty much OOB. I did drill out all the dive brake holes. I remember being a bit “daunted” myself by all that greenhouse canopy masking. For sure, there were no EZ Masks back then! Again, all enamels, and applied with the Model H. The pics, as usual, were taken at the Cameron Airport on August 11 last summer. It was my-tee hot out there! I hope you enjoy a look at “scale modeling’s past” with these two old warbirds!
