I found my canopy: On the sole of my shoe.
Posted by seasick on Saturday, March 26, 2016 11:58 PM

I was working on my Hasegawa F/A-18A when I dropped my canopy. I got up and looked around and didn't see it. Later I was walking out the door of the room and crushed it. I'm not sure how it could travel 3 yards but it did.

To the point: I've been looking for aftermarket canopies, and am not finding any. What are some manufacturers of either standard plastic of vacuform canopies in 1/72 scale?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Squadron vacuform canopies?

It shouldn't be too difficult to get a replacement clear parts sprue from Hasegawa's US distributor http://www.hasegawausa.com/techsupport.html

Hey, I did that to a Hasegawa Corsair once.  Welcome to the club!

I second that, I would look first at Squadron.  I've used their vacuform canopoies, and they work pretty well.  Though, checking with Hasegawa for a replacement part is a good idea, too.

Of course, someone here in the forum, too, may have one he does need and will offer it to you.

atleast you were wearing your shoes at the time. Would have been worse barefoot.

I got a nail in my foot when I was 15. Shoes all the time since then.

I pulled a blank over at Squadron. I'll try Hasegawa.

You may have to buy another kit, and then try plunge forming the second over the original kit part.

Done that...

Not as easy as you would think. I lost the smallest canopy part for the Hasegawa 1/48 TF-104G and they said I would have to buy the complete sprue for about $18 shipped to get it. Just a little tiny arched square part. Needless to say, kit is half built on a shelf. Tried to make one but the compound curves made each try end in failure. :(
