Personal Notes:

• I really like this kit despite its age. They call this a 'legend' amongst scale modelers for the amount of its detail considering when it was first made. And though it lacks the more detailed approach of later kits, it can't be beat for its price. It's inexpensive and fits perfectly. • I tried my hands on a 'worned out' weathering here and this is my first time to do it. I used a piece of sponge and semi-dried up chrome silver acrylic to reproduce the paint chipping. I think I overdid it. • I'd take note of all your feedback so please feel free to critique my work. Thank you.  :) •

Impressive work and very ambitious weathering for someone relatively new to modeling. Thank for sharing...

Well, I've been on these boards for a long, long time. Nowadays, I see only generic praise from members and no constructive criticism, which has turned this site into a very dull place, so I will temper my comments accordingly.

I feel the weathering is over done and the "chipping" is unrealistic.

Just being honest not mean spirited. Hope you take this in the right way.

regards

Steve

Thank you very much! Big Smile

I'll take note of that in my next build.

Nice job. I know what you mean about liking the kit despite its age. I built the A6M2 last year and wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by the $15 kit.

I like the paint chipping you pulled off. I haven't built the confidence to try that yet.

Hope to see more of your work soon!

interesting weathering, I know what you are going for and it's gonna get comments from both sides. My opinion is that if are going to go extreme, it would look more 'correct' if you faded the paint job. especially the red hinomarus.  thanks for posting

I like the panel line weathering, and I especially like the bits of rust that you added.  I'm not too much a fan of the paint chipping, but what matters is do you like it?  Do whatever you like, make it look how you want...it's your model!
