I wont pretend to be an expert on WW2 Japanese planes, but the chipping looks okay to me. Nice job!

Thanks Guys for the compliments. I used Aztek pearl silver acrylic for the chipping. I think it gives a nice aluminum look. I used a coarse brush, round dental brushes and an embossing tool to weather. I haven't been able to airbrush the Azteck silver because it plugs my airbrush but to me it has a finer grain than the model master silver or aluminum. The embossing tool was nice because it would follow the panel lines but leave an intermittent paint application.
Very nice build.

That's a sharp looking Jack. Very nice work on it. I also like the chipping and weathering you have done on it. It appears to be just about right. Always like to see a Jack build as it's my favorite Japanese Fighter. Thank You for sharing.

Gamera She looks good to me! The chipping looks fine, it can be overdone but what you've got there looks pretty good.

Thanks Gamera, I had to grit my teeth to paint over some of the decals

Thanks guys
I was concerned about the chipping. I tried to find the right balance. Brandon looking forward to seeing your version. I just wished I would have used a lighter primer so the pre-shading would have worked

Thank you
Well it was a fun model to make as most Tamiya's have been for me. It had some firsts. First time I used perfect plastic putty. It worked great. I always have a hard time smoothing down squadren and tamiya puttys. They look smooth to me and when I hit with primer...not so much. Plus I usually end up removing more detail than I would like. This stuff smoothed nicely with a wet Q-tip. I used it to eliminte and edge on the wing root at it looked great. Next lesson don't waste time doing black pre-shade on Krylon dark gray primer. Love the primer but no pre-shading survived. First time I have chipped this much. I had to grind my teeth to paint on those decals. It's seems like a delicate balance. I've seen some that IMO look too chipped and some where it seems a bit too subtle. I tried to stike a balance between the two. World war two photos show both extremes. As noted in a previous thread I would have liked to have kept the pre dullcoat green. I think it looked more accurate. The cockpit was pretty plain so I didn't take any pics of that. I would have liked a better canopy fit but I have a hard time painting the canopy on the plane. I tried that once and the canopy wasn't as sealed as it should have been. It bled primer underneath and wrecked the canopy. It also looks like I should have spent some more time on the leading wing edges. Too much of a seam especially on the yellow. Figure painting....defiately a work in progress. Overall I would grade this a "C" compared to what I seen presented on this forum. As always constructive criticism is welcome. After all, that's how we learn. Thanks for looking
