I have so many jets that it makes it hard to grab one out of the stash. All this talk about Jolly Rogers may be giving me some direction. Pirate

I'd be interested for sure. I haven't built any jets in 25 years. Dear god where has the time gone? (I'm 35)..... Heavy sigh. Rudy

Well, I've received a better reaction to this than I was expecting. That being said, I guess I'll keep it simple with the modern theme and launch this for June 1, 2016 to Nov 30, 2017. If we need to adjust later on, we can always do that.

Count me in for whatever this GB becomes. I have lots of stuff I want to do, especially down the MiG lines.

Hey, SB,

I was planning a to do a couple F-14's from VF-84 and VF-103. I agree with you on the skull and crossbones!

Goock luck on the move!

I like the idea, Seasick.

I have a long term project planned to build all the aircraft of a particular fighter squadron from just after WW2 to present day.

i like that idea a lot. I have the same plan for the Jolly Rogers. Got to love the skull and crossbones.  I have a bunch of kits in the stash that would qualify, I just have know idea when I'll be able to get building again. Hopefully we'll get moved and settled this summer.

VFA-151 Vigilantes, who originally started as VF-23 in 1949. I have a lot more research to do on this squadron. You may ask why this squadron? Simple answer is I built a F-4 with VF-151 decals back in the early 90's. I wanted to build the same plane again, then it snowballed.

I was thinking of a series of fighter group builds based no the jet fighter "generations"

First a generation 1 build, then 2, then 3. Generation 4 is longer in time and their is a sub-division for generation 4.5 fighters. By time you get to generation 5 hopefully it won't just be F-22, F-35, and Su-50.

Chasing the ultimate build.

I would propbaly jump in on this. I only have a couple of GB's to finish off, so i would not be over commiting. I have a 1/48th EF-111 i have to finish by the Xmas club meet in Dec, so would probably go with that.

OK,Ok, I read the above post and said:

So, I called my ex-wife, and asked her if she wanted to get married again. She said "no way". Therefore, I know that hell did not freeze over. My only other guess is that the eight wonder of the world just happened, because Bish just entered a Modern jet GB, and with none other than a 1/48 scale plane!! Big Smile

Sorry, Bish, just took me by surprise when I saw your post!

BrandonK, I think this GB is a go!

I woundered if anyone would pick up on that Big Smile

But don't worry, the world ain't coming to an end. I didn't actually, you know, BUY it. I picked it out in the Secret Santa last Dec, and we have to take them back the follwing Dec completed for the monthly club comp.

OK, Bish, you are off the hook since you didn't, you know, buy it! LOL!

But, if I see a post anywhere that you're going to build a 1/32 Spitfire, well, you know, I'll assume you didn't buy it! LOL!

I appreciate you keeping us on our toes!

If you ever see that happen, i would strongly suggest you contact MI5, MI6, CIA, NASA and anyone else to whom it may concern as that would be a clear indication that aliens are beginning the take over.

At this point I am pretty convinced that an 18 month build is more suitable.

Yeah 18 months seems like a long time but moves pretty quickly. My Mustang build is for 18 months and it only has three months left. Where did the time go?

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

The longer time frame would work better since I really don't know how deep I'm getting with the PE on her.  The resin office is a ton of pieces and the PE has the radar suite if I want to do an open radome.  Going to have to look and see what else is out there for her in the way of corrections.

At this point I am pretty convinced that an 18 month build is more suitable. I also have more than one kit I would like to build and this time frame fits that desire quite nicely.

Looks like this will be a great GB.

BrandonK,

I like the idea of 18 months. Also, I have a F-16B that I've started that is about 5-10% complete. I would like your blessing on if this would be an acceptable entry. I can send pictures of what is completed.

I think this one would be an acceptable addition provided you don't make too much progress before June 1, which is not too far off. So, I say sure.

BK; your outline and timeline seem fine, a year is good but a year an a half may be better for the "well hung" modern AC builders. I'm signing on with a yet-to-be named build. There are a lot of subject appropriate kits in the stash demanding attention.

I appreciate your willingness to host a long GB for a non WWII topic, and look forward to many great posts!

I love the enthusiasum I am seeing here. I am in the same boat as many of you in that I have a few kits to knock out before I just whole hog into a jet or two. This makes me think that an 18 month time frame may not be too bad of an idea. It sounds like most us could use the extra time. Thoughts?
