A pair of A-10s
Posted by Mtdustbuster on Monday, April 25, 2016 11:59 AM

Here is a pair of A-10s that I finished, the Camo one I built and gave to my boss for Christmas I found out he had a fired shell from an A-10 that was signed so I got contacted his wife to find out who the pilot was and after lots of research found out the squadron and photos of the aircraft and built it, My boss was a ETAC in Desert Storm, the grey one was built for His sons unit, He is a TACP in the Air Force getting ready to deploy this next month. My boss is delivering it to his unit this week! The camo jet is Revell, used Tamiya decals and Hasegawa weapons, the Grey jet is Italeri with aftermarket decals and Hasegawa weapons.

Very nice!

I don't know what it is about A-10's, but to me, they just look great as scale models. Especially when they are well-built, as yours are.

Thanks for all the compliments Now that I have a little more time, Some more info on these birds. The Revell (camo) is a stock out of the box build with the exception of the decals and the weapons and the seat and the nose gun. That one was the first full airbrush camo paint job That I have ever done. The base is just a piece of 3/4 plywood with a piece of Kitchen tile that cost 76 cents from Home Depot, After my boss received his as a gift he asked me to build the second one for his son's unit, he bought all the supplies and I did the build. The Italeri (grey) was my second attempt at preshading the first being a Hasegawa A-7 that is on the back burner so I could finish this one. After some research on what units he worked with and the normal weapons load out I got it finished a couple of days ago, the I really like the Italeri Kit however the engine fans need replace I used quickboost engine fans, hasegawa weapons and aftermarket decals. The base is again plywood with a kitchen tile from Home Depot. The patches were supplied by My bosses son. He had a glass case made for it and is hand delivering it this week I should have some pictures of it on display next week. It was a blast building these two, now on to my builds

What a cool idea with the spent round. Your boss must be a nice guy. Those look great. Thanks for sharing..
