Builds for 2016
Posted by Geezer on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 9:15 AM

If I may, here are what I've gotten done so far this year.

My son and his wife bought me three models for Christmas....1/144 scale. Yeah, funny.

It looks much worse - picture adds 10-15 pounds.

Revell "Smithsonian" 1/32 Mustang

Revell "Smithsonian" 1/32

Eduard 1/48 P-39 Aircobra

Minicraft 1/48 "Short Nosed" XF-5 Skyrocket

Minicraft 1/48 "Long Nosed" XF5 Skyrocket

Revell 1/35 H-13

Some from 2015:

Lingberg 1/48 OA-9 Goose

Revell 1/32 Spitfire

Looking good! You've been busy although I had to get out my bifocals and microscope to see the first couple. Big Smile

Toshi: Thank you! You don't want to look at them too closely! They are nice 4-footers.

Greatmaker, oh man, you have no idea. It does save on paint, though.

Thanks, Bruce. They were pretty decent kits, by my standards (low as they are!). I think these are the two on which the canopies both cracked and I could not get spares. They are just cracked.

Thank you, Greg. They are as tiny as the 29 is big! Still have one more to do.

My AMT/Ertl 1/48 F-7 Tigercat.

A couple of you may notice thay the canopies are a bit fogged. In my full doofus mode, I over sprayed them after installing. I'd do a face/palm plant, but I'd likely have CA on my hand.

It is a tail sitter in spite of:

Another "funny" moment. The exhaust stack were pretty decently molded into the cowling/nacelle pieces. I thought, "well, why don't I drill those out a bit more to add some stunning realism?" Self replied, "Have at it, Scooter, have at it!" I did and you can't see squat. I love my modeling.

My eyes go into a panic and retract into their sockets when they see tiny scale models, they can only cope with 1/48 and 1/32, preferably the latter!

But, for such a tiny scale, you have a lovely collection that you've put together there.  Smile

Cheers,

Martin

I have one good eye, Martin. I've seen it cross doing these 1/144 babies. My son got me those. Seems he lacked a basic understanding of scale or was trying to kill me. Not sure.

I'm really good at dull coating the model after installing the canopies and forgetting to mask them.  I call it "Early Morning Before the Mission" status, where the frost is still on the canopy.  IPMS needs to add that as a catagory in their contest guide.

I just about spit my coffee out when I read this!  This would be the most awesome idea ever and we could actually tell ourselves that we're "adding realism" as opposed to having yet another face-palming "DO'H! moment.
