Completed last week, Revell 1/72 scale P-47M Thunderbolt, The Jug

Finally finished off with my Revell 1/72 scale P-47M Thunderbolt, "The Jug". Painted in the 2-tone ocean blue camouflage and markings of the 63rd Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, as flown by Capt. John C Fahringer who shot down a Me262 during WW2.

Earlier on, Maj. George E Bostwick also shot down an Me262 and damaged another one flying the same aircraft.

The kit had very little fit issues. Only a slight bit of filler was needed on the upper and lower fuselage sections. There was however, a lot of flash that had to be cleaned off.

Though the P-47Ms never carried rockets, I still attached the 10 rockets to the final model, as they were definitely a great add-on and enhanced the lethality in the looks of the final finished model.

Here are some beauty shots of the model. All hand-painted with mix-n-match of different locally available Fevicryl acrylic paints and weathered with ink wash.

And here is a video link to the effort

You did a fantastic job on the build, especially the paint scheme!

Really nice work. Always liked those blue camoed P-47Ms, nice change of pace from OD green over neutral grey and NM.

Yes Gamera. At first, when I saw this paint scheme on the box art, I thought, well really ? Is that camo for real ? But then as I studied through historical documents, I found that this paint scheme actually existed. My purpose of choosing this particular paint scheme was that it was something different from the norm and so I wanted to try it out. Glad it came out well.
