BF109E7 Trop Eduard 1/48 WIP Finished !! July 28
Posted by garzonh on Friday, July 1, 2016 6:15 PM

Hi to everybody,

So, Im more an armor guy but wanted to build a plane. So I found this kit in an expo, Eduard 1/48 BF109E7 Trop, with lots of goodies, PE, engine detailed and cockpit.

I also bough the resin improve for the radio on the back part.

This is my third plane, 1st and 2nd I tried to get a natural metallic plane, but I just could not make it right. I wanted to look shiny but had lots of problems.

I will be painting this one in the tropical colors.

Here I am so far with the interior...

Gorgeous interior and engine details. You certainly have an eye for realism.

Nice work so far. I absolutely loved building mine.

FYI I found it easier to leave the exhaust pipes off until after painting. The slot in just fine, but some trimming wil be required on the very front of the front pipes, but it can't be seen, even if you leave the cowl off. It simplified the masking process. Also, watch out for that tailwheel. Mine now sits on a metal strut since I broke it and then melted the plastic with glue putting it back together.

Thanks for the tips!, I sure will take care of the rear wheel.

I have finished all the interiors...at last...now moving on to the wings...this is the finished interior, a pitty that such a small hatch will not allow to see all the details on the tail.

Hiii

So, yes, I skipped a lo of steps in the WIP process for the forum... sorry...Sad

So here it is, I did had a lot of problems, but learned a lot from it...several parts were broken, I made a huge mistake with the varnish, the paint, which I had to re-do several times as I kept doing it wrong and lot of issues with the air flow and consistency.

I was about to throw it to the trash can...but...meeeh.... I just finished...it will not win any contest, not even a 10th place with all the flows...but again...I dont give up. This is just my third plane and my first in 1/48.

Here it is.

I know, as an artist, just how easy it is to not be able to overlook the flaws in your own work. When you know where they are your eyes will keeo focussing on them.

Give it some time out of sight for a while. You'll see it diferently after that.

And I agree with the guys, you've actually done a really good job on it. You have nothing to be upset about from what we all can see.  :)

MrBrindos,

Yes, that is true....when you know where are the flaws, you just can think of something else.

It did finished on my shelve, I think is a good way to measure your progress and skills along a period of time, however, it is not always true...my last tank was worst than the 1st one...hehe....anyway... thanks for your support and great advice.
