I have always wanted to have a crack at doing a WWI aircraft, put off by rigging and aligning wings is a bit daunting for me. So I started with a simpler design aircraft.

The wood finishes in this were done with a base coat of Tamiya Buff, then I used Vallejo burnt umber with a brush to give the wood grain look, after that I sprayed Tamiya clear orange over it.

The black is Tamiya nato black, yellow is Vallejo gold yellow with a couple of drops of white in it. The white is Vallejo white with Vallejo aged white added to give it an off white look, the green is Tamiya olive green. The small amount of rigging on it is EZ line.

I used some AK aircraft engine oil wash on the engine, I used Flory dark dirt wash all over, but instead of wiping it back with paper towel which I normally use, I used a flat brush, wet with water and kept brushing along, drying the brush off when to damp. I also brushed a bit of dark dirt pigment around the wheels and underside.

I know its a monoplane but still feels odd not seeing a lower wing.  But a great build, Grant. Nice!

Looks like the Steelers throwback uniforms. I love it! So for my next P-51 floor,....Buff, Burnt Umber, then Clear Orange......got it. Thanks for sharing.

I have to second that! Looks like it would have a nasty sting, lol!

Nicely done. I built the older tooling of this kit last year (an all-PE cockpit and super thick plastic parts) and it's one I can definitely see revisiting. You did a great job on that, and I hear ya - I wanted to get into WWI but wasn't sure about the whole two-plus-wing thing. But I think I'm ready now (plus I cheated and bought a jig).
