Completed 1/48 Tamiya Seiran

The dolly wood graining was done in acrylic basecoat and oils. I'm pleased how the hairspray weathering came out on this unusual late war Seiran scheme.

You just used run of the mill hairspray and shoot it straight out of bottle through your airbrush? I've never tried the technique myself but would like to.

Cheap hairspray from the Dollar Store decanted thru a straw and sprayed thru my AB. Yes you can shoot right from the can but the ab offers more control. I've been told by several modelers that this is similar to the AK Interactive chipping product that costs like ten times as much. I wanted to try the AK product but my method seems to work ok.

Hi, Ernie -

That's an excellent build and finish, totally believable on display. Looks like you should be able to start the engine.

Thanks for the post and photos.

That is really impressive PJ. Your hairspray weathering turned out extraordinary, as well as the overall build. You should be quite proud of this work.

Thanks Tojo. This hairspray method works every time. For the wood I used acrylic light tan and when dry, used dark brown and grey oils to get a weathered look. Thanks for stopping by.

Outstanding...especially the weathering.

Just amazing!  You've out did yourself on this build!  It looks like the real thing.  This is one of the most phenomenal builds I've seen in a long time.
