Revell 1/32 P-51B - WIP
Posted by goldhammer on Saturday, July 16, 2016 5:18 PM

Was in HL a couple of nights ago and tripped across this one and grabbed it.

Going to use it as fill in during the Modern and Sub GB's.  Dry fit on the wing and fuselage look decent, cockpit is pretty bare, and the pilot and seat are just flat ugly.  Gun ports don't match up, but will use some brass tube I have to fix that.  Molds are showing some age as there is a good amount of flash, but fairly easily taken care of. Raised rivits and panel lines.

Decals are for "Berlin Express" with the locomotive on the left side.  Shows upper surfaces  and upper 1/3 of the fuselage in OD and the rest in NMF, with yellow and red checkerboard behind the prop.  Going to be an OOB build and should go pretty quick until paint time.

Pics in a few days.

I thought about getting this kit, but I was concerned with those issues you mentioned. But, if I can hack up a P-40, I can hack up p-51. Looking forward to this.

That kit has been around for a while since last year. I have that kit as a freebie. There are issues with the kit - gun ports don't line up, flash, etc... The best part - it's not all that big once it get assembled.

Figured it was older moulds, but it is what it is.  Not going to go overboard on it.

Got the wings, engine, prop together, horizontal stabs on the fuselage.  Got to get it over to work this week and toss some zinc chromate at the interior and then can start assembly.  Had to do quite a bit of trimming around the side window openings to get them narrower and even.

**EDIT**  It's Tuesday and got the ZC shot today and will get some pics as the pit is done and ready to go in and the fuselage buttoned up.
