Hasegawa P-40N 1/72 Burmese Banshee
Posted by Bossman on Thursday, July 21, 2016 10:22 PM

Hello All,

I've been trying to knock off some long time shelf sitters - and here's the latest completion.  A Hasegawa P-40N.  I've built several of the Academy P-40 kits in the past and prefer the Academy version.  They fit better and have crisper surface detail over the Hasegawa version.   Still - it's a nice kit.

Another drawback of the older Hasegawa kit. . . .  Zero gear bay detail.   Ow ! . .  a bit 'o nasty decal silvering around the stars-n-bars . . .

. . . With some of its Academy buddies - another N and two E's

Very cool to see alot of 1/72 work around the A/C form these days !

Have fun,

Chris

Nice work on all 4. I've built 72nd kits and they are just too small for me. Hats off to you guys that kill these little kits.

Nice collection, but I see no "B"s in there. :(

I'm hoping I can make my Academy "E" as nice as one of those.

Thanks guys !

Mike - I built the Trumpeter 1/72 P40-B kit in a Flying Tigers scheme.  A very nice kit. Alas, it was not present fo the photograph as it was given as a gift a few years back.

I haven't tried the Academy B yet.  Don't know if I will.  Ive heard that it's not really on a par with their other P-40 kits - and now there's a really nice, inexpensive Airfix kit out there as well.

Judging from what I've seen of your past work - I'm sure your "E" will be a stunner !

Excellent work, Bossman! I've got two Academy P-40 kits in my stash waiting to be built...but the Burma Banshee scheme isn't on either decal sheet for those kits. Is this Hasegawa kit still available?

Hey Rocker,

I bought the Hasegawa kit from a place that sells old pre-owned kits.  It is definitely an old boxing and I could tell the mold was geting old. (flash and not so crisp detail)

This particular boxing could be hard to find

I have seen a company online called Fundekals that produces a set of aftemarket decals for a burmese banshee.  Check 'em out . ..

After building both kits  - I'll stick with the Academy kit if I build another one.
