Wow!  You have a museum going there!  Yes I do need more shelves.  I can't rely on hubby to make anything though, and I am not a carpenter by any means.  If I even pick up a hammer I'm going to smash my thumb with it.

You need more shelves!!!!

Since we're on the subject. You've seen the main display cabinet in my previous post (1/72 stash is hidden away in the bottom of the cabinet) which was built in, when I finished of the "War Room" a dozen years ago. I was running out of space, so I built 3 more shelf units this past Spring.

This one is right at the bottom of the stairs...(still gotta add that pice of trim above the door!)

This on is on the stairway wall...

My "#2" display...

The other part (bigger) of the war room, hada lot of stuff in it...most of which got moved back into the smaller area to make room for the bands rehearsal space. Aside from the C-130's and two corner shelves in that side of the room, I have a few ceiling hangers, and one built in shelf that I keep my choppers in...

(That shelf sticks back into the storage/utility side of the basement)

Here is another option for displaying...

This does involve drilling a hole though.

You can see the nail between the wall an fuselage (just forward of the prop). These are very old (and not very good) builds, so I didn't mind drilling em.

There's also this...

The Tunnan is just there for example...that this does work for some tricycle gear models. They are hung with just a loop of fishing line around the tail, on a small finish nail.

Seen here, above my main display cabinet...

I already need a bigger house, lol.  Hubby, my daughter, and myself all like ALL of our things, and don't like to get rid of stuff.  They are both worse than me though.  If I haven't used it in a year or more, it gets tossed.  Obviously that won't happen with my models, or other decorative items.

It would be my worst nightmare if she fell.Crying  Next trip to Home Depot I will be sure to pick up some wire.  Better safe than sorry!

Hi, Keyda -

A beautiful job, very complex and well done. It looks right at home overhead.

I would second the the wire recommendation by Wilbur, I used fishing line for quite some time, the mortality rate of model falls became rather high in my house. Especially the large, heavy :48th amd :32 bomber types. Some repairable, most not. (Sound of taps.) Haven't lost another due to a "hard landing,"

I'd hate to think of your fine work going in the bin due to a fall.

Patrick

Thank you everyone!  The Herc's are and always will be my favorite plane.  I have a 1/72 Fat Albert, and Combat Talon stashed away at the moment.  So there will more C-130's in the house than anything else.Big Smile  In fact it's Tuesday, maybe I'll get to see the real ones fly today.  Always makes my day when I have them fly right over my head.

Good show....good show!Toast

I remember getting this kit for Christmas...many, many years ago. We were here in Michigan, visiting my grandparents...I was supposed to wait until we got back home (Ft. Leavenworth KS) before building any of it. I talked my mom into buying me some super glue, at the local pharmacy(they even had model kits back then)....I built the whole dang thing in two days. What a MESS!!!!

I have just read this whole thing !

Now , I do understand why you chose the C-1 - Turkey ! My friends at Little Rock used to call them that . Between getting a V.I.P. flight and watching them and actually experiencing them . I gotta say , Great Choice !

There was a time and a situation when a big C-130 bird looked like an angel to me . Gee , It was a C-130 ! I have always thought since that day , the bottoms should be painted to resemble " Rescuing Angels ",

Did you know that after that I couldn't get enough of the old birds ? Still love them . T.B.

Well if anyone ever decides to light up a model with LED's, do not get the kit made by Kosta.  They are all over eBay in varying prices.  The problem is in their little yellow control board.  It will work fine for 5 minutes or so, then the white strobe light will blink twice as fast as it should, and the red beacons just flicker.  I thought maybe I got a crappy one.  So I ordered another kit, and changed out the controller.  That one lasted all of 30 seconds before it messed up.Angry  I obviously can't change out the system, I have to go with a controller that has the same plugs.  Even changing out the controller was a pain.  I can get to it, but it's difficult to pull the plugs out.  Everything I find online seems to be the exact same kit, marketed by different companys.  Even Turnigy.

I guess I just needed to vent.  I can't even enjoy all my hard work at night, I just get aggravated when I turn it on and it messes up in a matter of minutes.

I'm not sure, lol.  I have quite the stash building up.  Choice of 3 helicopters or 3 aircraft.  I may do the Blue Angels F-18, that way the Thunderbird isn't so lonely.  I have an empty corner shelf that will fit most of the smaller 1/48 scale stuff.  I'm starting to run out of places to put them all.  I'm sure hubby will start getting annoyed if I keep hanging them from the ceiling too.  There's already 3 of them up there.  Embarrassed

Well thought out and executed build!  Looks good to me.

So, then what's next?

Thank you everyone!  Yea I made a little cargo net and pallet to disguise the battery box.  I figured it would be easier if I left the switch where I could get to it, rather than having to pull it in and out of the model.  Less risky that way too.  Only time I have to pull it out is to change the batteries.  It's actually a battery box for a Traxxas RC car.  Hubby is into all that stuff and gave me an extra box that holds the battery and the switch.  Worked out rather well I think.

That looks sweet! I can practically hear it in my mind! Ah the memories! I love the night shot, (although night drops were usually done blacked out for tactical reasons) Is that supposed to be a heavy drop pallet coming off the ramp?

Thanks for the tip.  I will have a look at my local home depot for some thin wire.  I did take some extra precaution with it, and doubled the fishing line up.  I'll still need 3 eyelets though, she's tail heavy from the wires, and battery box, lol.

If I could give you some friendly advice I would say If your using fishing line to "Fly" this model I would replace it with thin wire.

I have an Italeri 48th scale C-130 which is somewhere on the forums here.   All my big planes are hung with wire.  Any UV ray exposure can deteriorate fishing line when you least expect it.  Particulary for a huge model like this. I could take a photo of my 130 hanging if you would like to see the method. Two eyelets is all you would need.

I did think about doing the moving propellers, I've seen it done on a few different C-130's models.  But I figured since I was literally on my 6th model I should just try tackling the LED's.  I didn't want to overwhelm myself.  Now I must decide which model is next, lol.  I've got a bit of a stash going. Big Smile

It doesn't matter how long it took, the final results are very good looking! I'd say the only thing missing was all for of those prop blades spinning, lol! Those lights are just plain amazing and I love the extra attention to making that work.

Good job, Keyda! I hope you keep making more models to join that beauty up there in the "sky" . :)

Thank you!  Yea roughly 3 weeks.  Lol.   I would work on it all day sometimes.  It was the thought of seeing it finished and "in flight" that kept me plugging away at it.
