It looks fantastic.

I don't know what is going on with some Revell styrene, but when I built the 1/32 scale Spitfire, thier newest earlier this year, one half of the fuselage was indented near the cockpit, and unfixable from the mold.  They sent me a new half, but I had to wait a month.

Hey Darren, thanks for the feedback. You're right on the grey color. I used Tamiya Lt. Grey instead of MM Lt. Gull Grey. I'll remember that for next time. I saw the review on FineScale regarding the new Tamiya F-14. I might purchase that one. Eventhough I'm looking forward to building another one, I'll wait a little bit and head into another genre before returning to the airwing.

Hey Tigerll, She looks great! You're right on the fit, quite the battle I must say. You're also right on the decals, really smooth. Despite the fit issues they do make a nice looking model. As I remember the folding wing mechanics were a challenge to assemble and keep on track during assembly. Good job on a stubborn one. Thanks for the post, it's always fun to see someone else got through it! LOL!

That didn't turn out too bad. I've built a few (70+) of these kits, and once you know the secret, they are pretty easily finished. A couple of things to look out for. The gray you used is a bit too dark. It should be Light Gull Gray. VF-142 didn't have the black radome. That would have been VF-31 and VF-41. You got the metal leading edge on the wing, but it should follow the panel line right near the edge. You're white is fantastic and the decals look great. I hope you don't feel like I'm picking on your build. You had asked for feedback, and with a few changes, you could really make that old kit proud. If you search the FSM website for Darren Roberts, you'll find an article I wrote 10 years ago that shows the shortcuts I came up with for the Monogram kit. It makes building it much easier. I've also attached a picture of some of the Monogram Tomcats I've built.

You pulled it off despite the kit. I never really enjoyed it, mine ended up in the recycle bin

I particularly did not like this kit from Revell. I guess it was because it seemed that the plastic near the nose of the fuselage was warped and didn't join well, leaving a seam. Of course putty on planes aren't easily hidden like on a tank or other ground vehicle. The decals were a joy to work with. I hope you like it and as always all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.
