Revell 1:48 HE-111

Well I won't go into many of the issues with this one.  Another centauri creation filled with misaligned parts and broken ones.  The real shocker was the canopy. Despite test fitting there was a 1-2mm gap in the corners of the posterior canopy. As I painted the canopies off the model this created a slight problem.  Nothing that some elmers glue and paint couldn't fix.  I decided to do the night blitz bomber scheme for two reasons. One, I could find only one other build with that scheme online...many of the torpedo version and second,  I like big bombs and I cannot lie............ All in all and interesting kit.  Has anyone ever had issues with old decals which, when exposed to water make the water a milky white?  I had hoped that this would dry clear but alas no.  I ended up brush painting the black on the bigger decals Well here she be

Very nice finish! I've had the same build stalled/sidelined for many years... Thank you for the inspiration to get it done.

Job well done , sir. Can't say that I have had that issue with decals, though I built an old white box P-39 from the '70's whose decals performed better than the newer ones I was trying to replace them with. With Solvaset, even.

Great work GM .Yes

The finish is just gorgeous and it doesn't look like you had any issues at all.  I didn't know that the HE-111 was ever a torpedo bomber as well, ty for the info.

Wow, nice renditon! I like it! I must say that I was allowed to crawl around in a flying one of these that was being flown somewhere and stopped overnight at a local airport. I was startled to see it there and after talking to the crew was I was allowed a tour. Quite the experience.

Anyway, really nice job on a scary old war machine, you've done it justice!

There is a neat YouTube video of a pilot talking about flying this plane. He said he can stand to fly it for about two hours. It's very cramped, noisy, and very warm.  He said he was amazed what the German crew had to put up with for far longer

Nice modelling.  The little gaffs are what makes a build memorable.

That's a tough kit...no doubt. Yours looks great! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys for your support.

Hopefully it's OK to post a link to the Heinkel video.  It's pretty neat

I know but this guy has no flying experience at all. He's a menace to himself and everything else in the air... yes, birds too.

That does look good. The preshading is awesome.

Thanks Brandon I thought I was gonna be "smart" on this one and try brush painting the preshading.  Well that was a disaster.  By the time I got those lines covered up the camo paint was way too thick.  I tried to remove the camo paint but it stuck like glue to my cheap walmart primer. Ended up re-priming and airbrushing the preshading.  Fortuneately I didn't obliterate the panel lines.  I was at a loss has to how to preshade and postshade the black.  I decided to use RLM 66 for postshade on both top and bottom.  It's very subtle on the black but I think it turned out OK

Beautiful work!!

I think this is one to be proud of. If I had built it, I'd probably be just as disappointed as you seem to be with it.

we are always our own worst critics, are we not?

Looks great from here though.
