My wife and I were in Austin, Texas to see Dan Penn in concert Wednesday night (what a great show!). Yesterday, before leaving town, we went by King's Hobby on north Lamar. I hadn't visited them in a couple of years and wanted to see what's new. Well, I saw lot's of new stuff, but left with something "old".
Kings has a good consignment section, and I've found things I like there before. Thursday was no different, in fact, there were a lot of interesting and somewhat rare kits available. I bought the 1/48 Monogram Heinkel He-111, with twin torpedo option, a Monogram 1/48 F/A-18 Super Hornet and a Hobbycraft Lavochkin La-7, also 1/48. The La-7 was unopened, while the two Monogram kits had open boxes with all parts still bagged. Oh, there were lot's of Hasegawa and Tamiya kits, and a couple DML kits I hadn't seen in a while, but the price seemed right on these three.
I bought the La-7 for a quick, simple build (yeah, right) for $5. We'll see how quick it goes, lol. Damn, I have over 50 unbuilt kits and I'm buying more?!?! It's a sickness I tell ya! Yes, I have grand schemes in mind; build my three WWII bomber twins together, no, do the Classic Airframes 1930's biplanes as a group, or start my WWII Russian birds, etc, etc? Aaarghhh!! I need help. Maybe I'll hire on a couple assistants...
