You will love it Aggie!  It's on North Lamar, about a mile north of 183, on your left going north.   Oh, UT's not so bad.  They kicked me out in 1975 but I don't hold a grudge.  My GPA had fallen to .8  Surprise

I returned to college in 1995 at Texas A&M, graduating in December 1997 (with a 3.915 GPA).  A big difference due to a lot of factors.  I was an adult with adult responsibilities and two teens.  I was paying for it instead of my parents.  And I was extremely motivated after years of manual labor.Wink  Or, maybe A&M was just a lot easier?  Nah, couldn't be!Big Smile

Hmmm, my oldest lives in Austin. Might have to make a trip soon just to swing by this shop (will have to walk in wearing an A&M shirt and hold my nose at the stench emoting from the school in Austin)

Yeah John, it's a great hobby shop!  It seemed to me that their paint section was bigger than ever.  And along with the consignment kits, there were several drawers and bins full of consignment AM resin stuff.  I didn't have time to dig through it all, but there was quite a pile of it.  Big Smile

My daughter lived in Austin for 4 or 5 years and every time I visited I made it to Kings, a great shop.  Good selection, and the second hand stuff is fun.

Thanks for that bit of info!  Yeah, Kings is a great hobby shop.  I've been a customer for almost 30 years.  If I need paint or other modeling supplies, it's only a phone call away, and arrives in a couple days.  The guys there are really good, and yes, friendly and approachable.  And, they have a 50' 3 lane slot car track!  I just have to take my 1/24 slot cars from 1966 down there someday just to see them make a lap again!

Kings Hobbies is the best!!! Every time i go to Austin i just have to stop by. Houston has almost no hobby shops, so its great to go in and look around and chat with the guys there, they are some of the nicest people. Because I only go every now and then, and its supporting such a great place, i don't mind paying the prices which are in themselves quite competitive. Also, the consignment section and AM goodies are awesome! I've bought one to many kits there to say the least. Also, they do have an eBay site that generally has some awesome kits and reference books on auction every week! I believe their seller title is March22.

"new" kit scores

My wife and I were in Austin, Texas to see Dan Penn in concert Wednesday night (what a great show!Big Smile).  Yesterday, before leaving town, we went by King's Hobby on north Lamar.  I hadn't visited them in a couple of years and wanted to see what's new.  Well, I saw lot's of new stuff, but left with something "old".

Kings has a good consignment section, and I've found things I like there before.  Thursday was no different, in fact, there were a lot of interesting and somewhat rare kits available.  I bought the 1/48 Monogram Heinkel He-111, with twin torpedo option, a Monogram 1/48 F/A-18 Super Hornet and a Hobbycraft Lavochkin La-7, also 1/48.  The La-7 was unopened, while the two Monogram kits had open boxes with all parts still bagged.  Oh, there were lot's of Hasegawa and Tamiya kits, and a couple DML kits I hadn't seen in a while, but the price seemed right on these three.

I bought the La-7 for a quick, simple build (yeah, right) for $5.  We'll see how quick it goes, lol.  Damn, I have over 50 unbuilt kits and I'm buying more?!?!  It's a sickness I tell ya!  Yes, I have grand schemes in mind; build my three WWII bomber twins together, no, do the Classic Airframes 1930's biplanes as a group, or start my WWII Russian birds, etc, etc?  Aaarghhh!!  I need help.  Maybe I'll hire on a couple assistants...Confused
