Gotta echo what everyone else has been saying. Your build is nothing short of stunning and my hat's off to you. I just can't understand why a Strike Eagle kit was released WITHOUT any bombs! I've held this kit in my hands numerous times at the hobby shop. I've heard nothing but good things about the fit and engineering of this kit but I keep putting it back on the shelf because it doesn't come with any air-to-ground ordinance and I don't feel like buying the Hasegawa weapons set. Are you talking about the Revell of Germany version?    it seems to have more ordinance than the Revell F-15E strike eagle version.

John

No. It's the Monogram Pro Modeler (5965) that was out in 2001. I recently picked it up on Ebay for about $30. I was reading the reviews and is the same model Revell has out now but without all the included weapons this one has.

Mine has the following: 4 AIM9's, 2 AIM 120's with LAU 114 rails, ANN/AAQ-13 and 14 navigation and targeting pods, 4 GBU 10's,  2 GBU 15's  and two 610 gallon tanks.

Thanks all!Toast

I must admit...I'm proud of this one!

wolfhammer1

... Quick question, what are those massive JDAMs on the conformal racks?  Are they bunker busters?

Those are GBU-31...(BLU-109 with the guidance kit). Don't know that it has a "special" purpose...other than destroying anything that needs to have 2000 pounds of pain dropped directly on it!Toast

The smaller ones are GBU-38's...standard MK82s with the kit attached.

Nope, I just made a mistake when attributing the thread to fermis. No matter, both fermis and LawDog are such fine modelers that I learn from both and admire all the work I see from both of them.

Great job as usual fermis. That is quite a load on that Eagle and it will certainly do some hurting on the other end. That is an excellent idea to pin the weapons to keep them on during shipping. I do the same thing on my comissions to keep them on while being thrown around by the USPS.

The Pro Modeler Eagle has a ton of weapons and pops up now and then on ebay. Again fermis, super job. Beer

I think Mike was talking about the awesome TBD you did a while back.

Ooops Embarrassed

Yes, I must make my attributions more accurately. LawDog is another modeler who I always enjoy following. That error takes nothing away from my compliment to you and your skill.

Fermis, just beautiful  Always loved the Eagle, and you certainly did this one justice.  Quick question, what are those massive JDAMs on the conformal racks?  Are they bunker busters?  Thanks.

Your normal, brilliant work!

I've been looking at your tutorial on your SBD-3 Dauntless (http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/t/160714.aspx

Thank you very much!

That's "Lawdogs" thread, if I'm remembering correctly. Been a LONG time since I've built one of those (got 2 in the stash though!). We do do things quite similar though.

Wow, even the external ladder. Was this an option or aftermarket?

That was included with the kit.

Your normal, brilliant work!

I just love looking at your finished kits as well as following your WIP threads. I've been looking at your tutorial on your SBD-3 Dauntless:

http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/t/160714.aspx

and am at a the beginning of my AM 1/48 SBD-5 build. Your mastery of painting and weathering the pit is more than I could hope to accomplish but your step by step instruction as to how you do it with the images is invaluable.

As has been pointed out by Fermis, the thread I linked above is by LawDog. Both Fermis and LawDog are fantastic modelers who's WIP are of great interest to me and from whom I've already learned a lot.

Your weathering on the belly inbd of main gear and back to the exhaust is spot on. Bow Down

Did a panel line wash (amplified a bit in the pics), as well as some more weathering with some tinted dull coat through the a/b.

I'll do a bit more weathering with some pastels, once I get the other stuff on there.

Sweet, I have had this kit (or some what the same kit) in my hand before. Need to finish my Tamiya F-15C model first.

Did you hand paint the yellow and brown stripes on your munitions or are those decals?

Kevin

I did the yellow in the bombs...the missiles are decals though.

Nicely done so far,par for the course. When you get a moment tell me what you use as adhesive for the brass to plastic.

I use CA. The drill bits are the exact same size as the brass rod, so it's a tight fit to begin with...the glue is just a little extra "insurance".

DantheMan85

Excellent job, the E model is a lot better than there older ones with those nasty raised panel's. Cool

The truth is what you speak! I did the old C model many moons ago...long gone. I did another early on, during my 1st return to building. I did a terrible job on it. Upon my 2nd return to building, that F-15 was destined for the trash can...I signed up on an "Air Racer GB" here, and decided to redo that model as a "what-if" racer. Stripped it down, de-militarized it, clipped the wings and whatnot...
