Hey FSM,
This is the second of four Thunderbolts that I've been working on. This is another kit that's been rotting on my Shelf of Doom for a long time, so I figured I'd break it out and finish it for the Shelf of Doom 2016 and Thunderbolt 2016 GBs. As a matter of fact, I started a thread on this build back in '15. If you're interested in seeing it, you can see it here.
It' finished OOB except for Superscale decals, resin wheels from True Details, and some tape seatbelts in the cockpit. It's painted with MM enamels and weathered with Flory washes and pastels. You eagle-eyed modelers will notice that the kit is missing one of the belly tank "straps." The Carpet Monster got it and I haven't been able to get a replacement.
Anyway, let's take a look at the pictures.
Thanks for taking a look. Please feel free to share your comments and criticisms. I'm always interested in your feedback. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers!

Love the checkerboard pattern.

Looks great "O"! I really like the painting, especially the faded OD.

Nice variation on the OD, Omar. Nice all around as well.

Very nice looking P-47. How does the Hobby Boss kit compare to the Tamyia?
Very nice finish!

lawdog114I've always wanted to build Oiler's ride. You did a fabulous job on it.
Hey FSM, thanks for taking a look at my P-47 and for the compliments. I appreciate it!
Hey John (wolfhammer 1), to answer your question, this kit is very basic. I've neve built the Tamiya wonder-kit, but I've read enough WIPs and seen enough reviews to know it's a jewel. This kit doesn't compare. It's a very simple and basic kit. The front cowling and engine are molded as one piece that's designed to press-fit onto the fuselage assembly. The fuselage halves themselves are supposed to be held together with friction. The landing gear legs and lower gear doors are molded as one piece too. The fuselage has a canopy shaped cutout for the canopy to drop into. The canopy and windscreen, too, are one piece. Low parts count and decent fit made it a fun little build. I don't think I'll build another, but it's a good kit to get a beginner started with.
Anyway, thanks again for looking. I appreciate your comments.
Cheers!-O
Very nice work O !
You can make budget kit look like top shelf !

I just got done having a look at your Monogram razorback, and then I saw this thread. You really have down getting that weathered, worn look to the colors! This is another great build, well done!
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Fantastic finish even for a shelf of doom kit!
