Many years ago I have read on these forums, that on a P-51 Mustang the wings were puttied to be very smooth and then painted silver. Only the fuselage wa true NMF. Maybe someone could confirm that? Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Yes indeed, eveything except the gun access/ammo doors on top. It was done at the factory to keep the "laminairflow", which it was called. I must confess I never fill the panel lines because I don't particularly like the looks of it. It's also my understanding the putty would eventually work it's way out. So technically both could be right.
