TJ - I love the IL-2!! Is it1/48 scale? Does this kit comes with skis only or can it be built without skis? As much as I love to get my hands on the Tamiya brand IL-2 Sturmovik but they are a bit too pricey for me. I may have to grab this brand instead. Well done on doing the winter wash. Well done, indeed!!!

Thomas. Yes it's 48th. The kit does come with wheels. But no decals for a wheeled version. AccMin does make an Il-2m3 two seater also. This was a nice kit. One of their first ones. The only gripe I had was my instruction booklet was not complete, missing a few pages. Thanks to Waikong here who sent me a pdf of the complete booklet

Skis are on.  Decals are done

Against that white background - you can almost feel the frost accumulating on the inside of the canopy.   brrrrrrr !

Nice results from some nice techniques Johnny.

Outstanding Johnny, Definitely loks the part. I have to do this on a Stuka soon, Can you tell what gloss you used and white. I'm guessing an enamel based gloss and an acrylic white, or perhaps vice versa?

Yes and no.  I goofed. I accidentally grabbed my Alclad  aqua gloss instead of gloss kote and sprayed over with Tamiya white with a beige added to not make it so pure white. I wet sanded the, areas to show through. I think it was 1000 grit paper. Very lightly and very slowly. Didn't have any issues

Thanks for the kind words

Very very cool! As others have said the whitewash looks great. I hope that whenever I get around to building mine it turns out half as nice as yours

Thanks Bob.

Very humbled by everyone's comments

TJ,

Another mighty fine build!

What takes you weeks, takes me, months.

Damian

I took a new position at work. My shift doesn't start til 10:00am which gives me 1-2 hours every morning to build. I've built more in the last 4 months then in the last two years.

Great job on this, the white wash has come out really well. I like it with those skies on, just needs a wintery base now.

Thanks Bish. I'm not very good at dioramas

I absolutely agree with Dwayne! That is fantastic, Johnny! That's an effect I haven't been brave enough to try on an A/C yet.

I'm calling this done. This was my most ambitious weathering project yet. Fairly happy with result.
