Time for my buddy's chopper!

He was with HMM-266 as a crew chief. He is now a crew chief on the V-22 in Yuma.

He's in there somewhere...

I had a thread for this build, but is long lost (all pics were on P/B).

I scratched a ton of detail in the rear cabin, and the crew door/steps, Cobra Company resin up front, and an Eduard PE set. I was able to use some generic markings from the kit decals, while the griffin and tail codes had to be painted. All the names on the bird are individual letters cut out from spare stencil decals. The "nose art" decal "Doing it Phroggy Style" was printed by a fellow member here.

I'll add to this later, with another model. The drummer from my old band (also best friend) was a crew chief on CH-46's (he's now on Ospreys)...he was at the same base, at the same time as my bro. I built his chopper also...just need to take new pics.

Little side note story....I had given my bro one of our CD's, he took it over there with him to listen to. My buddy/drummer, was walking by a hanger one day and could hear our music playing...."Wait a dang minute...THAT'S ME!!!" So he went in to see who had our music, and ran into my bro! Small world, sometimes!

I built this 1/32 Academy F-18D for my bro, the first time he was in Iraq...03-04. This was way back before I took a break for a few years...before I was on, or even knew about, forums. No pics from back then. During the build, I kept notes on dates/times, and what was done during each session. After my bro got back, we compared his logbook with the notes I had made. The only thing with any significance...the night I was whippin up the GBU-12s (had to bash parts from the GBU-10 with a mk-82 body)...he had dropped his pair and got conformation, that with those two bombs, he had taken out 50+ bad guys.

He was here over the holiday weekend and brought the model along for some repairs...it's been a long time since I've seen it!

Anyway...as I received it...

There is no aftermarket, just some scratched details...only thing really noticeable are the harmesses (tape).

These pics are from just after his 2nd time in Iraq (VMFA(AW)-225)...1st time was with VMFA(AW)-332, as this model depicts. The kit had markings for 332, but at a different time, I was able to use some, but had to mask and paint the tail numbers.
