Completed 1/32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc
Posted by plasticjunkie on Saturday, July 22, 2017 6:00 PM

This is ROG's newest release, the 1/32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc. Markings are for No.416 Squadron, RCAF, Tangmere, England, May 1944.

I built this for the RAF 100th Anniversary GB  OOB except for the foil belts and an added detail to the rear view mirror that was punched out from chrome plastic foil. Double click on the images for closeups.

and glued on with Testors Clear Parts Cement. I has a very close look to an actual mirror.

Some fuel staining

Added a bit more chipping with a small piece of foam dipped in silver Floquil paint and blotted almost dry on a piece of paper towel to get tiny chips.

The belly got some light staining. Less is more.

The marbling add tonal value to the solid Med. Sea Grey

Pictures of the IP and pit.

This kit was very easy to build, enjoyable and well detailed in my book. Parts fit was exceptional except in a couple of places in the pit area but nothing to write home about.

Way to go, plasticjunkie! I tried to be the first response, but, for some reason, the "Reply" button wasn't showing when I tried. And, I noticed that it's still not showing in your initial post. Weird....

It's happened before several times when I've attempted to comment on a post.

Great looking Spitfire! Good to hear the kit went together well.

Where do you folks put your 1/32 completed aircraft? Do you make special places for different scale aircraft kits - or do you display them all together?

An excellent job on a classic airframe.  Everything looks top notch.

Thanks doc, Toshi and Mike.

Mike I usually try to keep the models by scales on the shelves.

Spectacular job Ernie !  I really like your "less is more " approach. The chipping to my eye is very realistic. I'm going to try your methods and thanks for posting.

Another fantastic job PJ.  Pit looks very detailed, and the weathering is spot on.  You make this look easy, and I know it is not!

Thanks for posting,
