                        My next project is to be a super-detailed F6F-3 under maintenance on a carrier deck diorama.  I've selected the Eduard kit, which is widely regarded as the best Hellcat available.  Can anyone suggest to me which aftermarket parts would be better: the Aires full detail set or the Brassin engine and Eduard PE gun bay?  I want to display a detailed engine with panels off and a crew figure working on it, as well as gun bays open and being loaded.  As far as I can tell, the Aires kit has two gun bays while the Eduard kit only has one.  It also has a cockpit which I'm not sure I'd use since the details are meant to be very good on the OOB Eduard kit.  This will be my first attempt at a super detailed engine, as well as my first time hacking into a kit to replace details.  Any fit problems with the Aires stuff in the Eduard kit (it says built for Hasegawa kit)?  Thanks

                        It's the best in 1/48. Cockpit is basic and could use a replacement. You can't go wrong with the Aries stuff but just prepare for a lot of surgery. I'd personally go with the Eduard stuff which is designed for that kit.

                        Two follow up questions: Does anybody have any personal experience using the Aires full detail set?  There are no reviews, no builds using the kit, no pdf instructions that I can find anywhere online to give more idea of the kit.  

                        Secondly, does anyone know if the eduard PE gun bay comes with resin guns, or do I have to buy those separately?  If separately, is there a recommended kit?  Would waist mounted M2s from a bomber kit fit in the wing bays or was the shape different?

                        Eduard gun bays

                        Brassin M2 kit (for waist guns it says, but comes with 6 in a kit which is better than the 4 in the Aires wing mounted gun resin kit. I'll modify shape if needed)

                        Skunkmodelworks carrier deck base

                        Verlinden carrier deck crew

                         

                        This is going to be a big project so I'll be sure to post a WIP once I get started.  Thanks for the advice.
