Of the three builds, this build is my favorite.  Which one was yours?  

On that note will you ever do a WIP of the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito?  Or do I have a feeling you have already acquired that kit in your stash?  lol!

I'd have to say the Tamiya Jug is my favorite.  Reference the 1/32 Mossie, the only way I would do that kit is if it was on commission.  Truthfully, the Mossie is not really one of my favorite subjects.  I don't hate it, but there's lots of stuff I'd rather build. 

On a side note, I did just order the new 1/48 Airfix P-51.  I can't wait for that to get here from overseas.       

Someday, someday, I want to be at your skill level.  I’m just not there yet and I have to be patient.  Luckily I have your WIP‘s to learn from.  Your completed Mosquito looks a lot larger than it is.  

Matter of fact, you‘re skill set is capable of making this Mosquito look like you built Tamiya’s 1/32 Mosquito kit instead.  That’s how fantastic you are!  Of the three builds, this build is my favorite.  Which one was yours?

I finally finished this turkey too.  Other than the fit of the canopy, I had no issues with the kit.  Actually, I think the weak part of this kit is the canopy.  They should have allowed for the top panels to be displayed open.  I wasn't crazy with how the Montex canopy masks performed, as they lifted on the curved edges and I had to keep pressing them down.  Next time, if there is a next time (not really one of my favorite subjects), I'll mask the canopy with Tamiya tape.  All markings, except the stenciling, noseart and tail codes were painted on via Montex masks.  Black is tough to do convincingly, so I added a grey panel line wash to make it pop a bit.  Aftermarket additions were Ultracast seats (although they are hard to see), Ultracast tires, and Master gun barrels.

lawdog!  Nice finish.  I've never done the clay ropes, but this is encouraging me.  Really nice finish and clean build.

That paintwork looks great! Especially the way you handled the undersurfaces. I also really like the painted red on the upper wing instead of using decals with all that excess film on them.

Can't wait to see more.

Joe, your masking was great! The WIP is, as always, a magnet for those of us who aspire to learn some of your modeling skills.

RE: That long, fore/aft, pipe-like structure on the starboard fuselage: It's like an itch I can't scratch - not at all important nor necessary to know what it is when building the model. I just got it in my head to try to find our what it is and have been unsuccessful. Even the starboard view of this diagram doesn't show it AFAIK:

Of course the difference between a bomber (XVI) and a fighter-bomber (VI) may account for the lack of the structure in question on the schematic.

Thanks Max,  I have my moments, but if it wasn't fun, I wouldn't still do it.  It's mostly just experimenting and finding tricks and techniques that work for you.

What is that structure just aft and, perhaps, a bit under the starboard wing on top of which you so expertly seated the roundel. (The letters you said you masked so they're painted, I guess).

BTW, is that roundel a decal or did you paint it using a mask? If you painted it I'd be hard pressed to know how you could mask for it .. if it's a decal you sure got it to settle down.

Mike, I have no idea what that is.  All markings at this point have been painted on with the use of Montex masks.  I haven't reached the decaling stage yet.

I haven't built anything in almost two years. After visiting this thread last week, I've started setting up my work bench in my new house, and I've been inspecting some of the British subjects in my stash. I also realized I don't have a Mosquito, which is something I need to rectify. 

Anyway, on to your build. Phenomenal as always. Your builds seem so pure... like you don't stress about anything. You eyeball colors, you paint insignias, you don't go nuts with aftermarket. Why, it's almost like you're having fun! It seems so natural to you, I love it. Hope I can make a kit half as good as you, buddy!

Looking exceptional.  Now you’ve got to tackle the Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito.  lol!  Seriously, what you’ve got is fantastic and beautifully done.  Great job on the camoflauge as well as the black underside.  Markings are just crisp!
