Hello there,
I have recently gotten into scale modeling. I have spent the last month or so watching lots of videos, reading many topics on this forum, and doing as much research as I can. I did a few practice kits I picked up for cheap locally, and am diving into my first attempt at creating something half as decent as the amazing things you all create. I wanted to start with something not too involved. I picked up a Revell P-51B 1:32 scale.
So after exploring the kit I just got, it seems the canopy included does not match anything in the instructions. After some research, it seems the P-51b I have here comes with the Malcolm canopy. supposedly most of these were installed on the Mustang Mk. III's of the RAF, but a select few were put on P-51's of the USAAF. So my conundrum when I eventually get to the painting was whether or not I go with an RAF scheme or keep it USAAF. I have decided to stick with a rare USAAF Malcom canopied P-51B. Specifically, I was hoping to create the Edwin Heller "Hell-Er-Bust." The paint scheme seems relatively straight forward for Simpleton as myself.
... however! There does not seem to be after market decals for this aircraft in 1:32 scale, so I would like to try painting my own markings rather than using decals.
My question is (finally!!!) does anyone have any good resources on creating masking for USAAF roundels? I seem to be coming up short with my good friend google. Thanks so much in advance, and thanks for all the help you have already, unknowingly provided me.
Here re is the aircraft in question.
