I've had issues with Alclad clears reacting with the adhesive on vinyl masks made with Oramask 810 material.  Made a gooey mess.

I've not had that problem with any of the "Future" iterations. Can you apply Alclad gloss over clear plastic? Over acrylics? Over decals?

Along with the constant name changes came its ability, or should I say inability, to cure properly. I switched to Alclad gloss years ago.

This is the kind of nonsense that happens when kids with "marketing degrees" take over!

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

I bought some recently at the local Ace Hardware.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Perhaps it's some sort of intelligence test!

Thanks, Paul.

With apologies to the Moody Blues . . . I think most of us know what "Future" is (or was) and how handy this out-of-hobby liquid acrylic can be. Trouble is that "Future" has been rebranded so many times in the U.S. that it is difficult to identify. First it was just "Future" with its space-age, atomic-symbol logo. Maybe a decade or so ago, S. C. Johnson melded "Future" into their "Pledge" floor/furniture care family and called it "Pledge with Future Shine." A few years ago, it was rebranded again, and gone was the brand name "Future." They renamed the same stuff "Pledge FloorCare Multi-Surface Finish" (PFM) that confused most of us here, and surprised a few of us that the stuff was actually a "floor polish" (it's always been a floor polish, but it has NEVER been a WAX).

Fast forward to just yesterday. My stock of "Future" was down to less than a full bottle, so I figured I should go get a spare bottle. First I went to a huge meijer department store. Nope, not there. Then I went to super Target. No "Pledge FloorCare Multi-Surface Finish." Then Home Depot. Nada. I knew folks have been buying it at Walmart, so that was my next stop. Guess what? Not there. But . . . here's this bottle with water-clear liquid with all the other Pledge-brand squeeze bottles. I opened the cap, took a whif – yep, that's "Future," all right. So what are they calling it now? It's "Pledge revive it floor gloss original" (see photo). I took a shot with my cell phone and then called Aaron Skinner at FSM to see if he had heard anything about rebranding. He checked his bottle of PFM and we compared the ingredient list on the labels, and sure enough, the S.C. Johnson formula number was identical. And, interestingly enough, the SKU price tag on the Walmart shelf (visible in the photo) reads: "PLDG W/FUTURE FLR WX" – the name of the stuff from two iterations ago!

So, long story short, if you need Future, look for this:
