Just wanted to post a link to my photo gallery for this really long build. Started just after Christmas, and just finished today. Kit is a beauty and was great to build as all Tamiyas are. WIP thread is over on LSP. Thanks for looking!

Nice work. Love the attention to detail and I love the weathering, especially on those tires. Can you give a run-down on your painting techniques, where from the photos it appears you did some kind of mottling prior to putting down the underside color.
Thanks. Check out my 20 page WIP thread over on LSP

The painting technique is called black basing. Popularized, though not invented, by Doog, who used to post here, now posts occasionally on LSP, and has a great modelling blog of his own.

Thank you. The kit did most of the work. It's beautiful to put together
silentbob33Awesome job! I'm going to refer back to this when I get around to building the Tamiya 1/48 Mossie. I love all the scratch building in the engines, they really look the part. And the mud on the wheels looks real!
The mud on the tires was made from Mig dark earth pigment mixed to the right consistency with enamel thinner. I added some brushed on gloss to the bottoms of the tires to keep them looking wet.
mississippivolSweet tea and cookies, that is nice!
Couldn't have said it better myself
