Eye in the Sky Group Build Feeler

This is an idea I've been kicking around for a little while, and wanted to see if there was any interest.  This would be a group build focusing on photo reconnaissance, observer, or scout aircraft.  There are a lot of different kits out of there of these birds, ranging in time period from WWI to today.  I was thinking it would run for a year, but I haven't decided on any kind of a start date.  Maybe sometime this summer if others are interested?

Brilliant!

If you do it...I will come.  LOL!

I'm in, just say when.

Cool! If we can get some more I'd be willing to run it. Is the summer sometime a good time to start for you all? Or should I wait a bit more? I don't want to step on anyone's toes with the current GB's going on

Would be interested with a big Phantom I've had in the stash for a long time if it started in late summer.

Summer is good for me, we are not over run with GB's at the minute, so another won't hurt.

I'll make an attempt. I'm in the process of packing to move. But I can't resist

Great! I'll tentatively look at August 1 for a start date then. Johnny, I feel your pain. I moved last year and it was a traumatic experience having to pack up the stash and work area to make it more "presentable" for potential buyers.

An August start time would be fine with me.  Now...let's see...which kit to pull out of the stash?  LOL!

Well, I've had a hankering to build a PBY Catalina and I missed the 'Floats and Boats' GB.

I'll have to wait till August to see how things are looking before I commit for sure though.

Good luck with your GB in any case!!!

I don't do many group builds (except for local model club ones), but this one could get me interested.  I have worked on a few recce projects, especially choosing cameras or other sensors for them.  I have developed a real interest in history of aerial photography.

I'm curious if you would consider the E-2C Hawkeye?

I would! Since it's mission is to fly over the fleet and look out for trouble it fits the theme of this GB like a glove. I've been wanting a kit of this plane for awhile, and it will be cool to see someone build it up.

Cool.  I just ordered the 1/144 minicraft EC-121R Constellation and the kit comes in my dads squadron the 553rd Batcats out of Korat.  Intersting mission if you care to research.  More of the ear in the sky ;)

Thanks,

John

I'd be interested. Got a RQ-1 Predator and a Global Hawk waiting for an excuse to be built.

Are there any U-2/TR-1 kits still in production, or will I have to wander around flea markets to find one?

How perfect! I was just at the USAF Museum in Dayton OH yesterday and the bird i took an interst in was an RF-86F that was used to overfly Russia during the cold war. I’d never heard of this and so i did a walkaround in pictures thinking I would build one someday. That will be for this group build!

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Like SR-71 and scout helicopters like the OH-58A? I think I have a modern UAV that would fit the bill. But, I need to knock out some of my other projects first.

I have a 1/144 Revell E2 Hawkeye I've been looking for an excuse to build. I'd join in.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I would say any of those would fit Rob.  It would be great to have you on board, whenever you were able to start.  I have a few projects to finish myself as well.  I'm hoping I'll be able to start my kit on the actual start date, but we'll have to see.
