Began work on Academy’s 1/48 F-4C. Doing some custom work to depict Lt. Lance Sijan’s F-4C.

Started out with Eduard’s color zoom photo etche for the cockpit, and QuickBoost resin ejection seats.

That is looking great!  It has been decades since I built an F-4.  Maybe it is time to have another go at it.

I was feeling good about some 1/48 tomcat seats I just did. Until I saw those ejections seats wow!! I am going to have to follow this one to pick up some new tricks. Very impressive work so far thanks for sharing!

Thank you guys for the kind words I appreciate it. This one is for a show in November where the theme is Vietnam. Hopefully it all turns out!

I will post up more as I go. I am going to be trying some new techniques with this one. Dipping my toes into the Ammo by Mig Jimenez pool and going to try some of their chipping fluid.

If you happen to not know about Capt. Lance Sijan read about his last mission. Incredible.

Getting close to finished, still attaching ordinance, etc, and dealing with the canopy snafu. Need to have it done by the 17th for a show.

Looks awesome!  It should do well at the show.  I have this one in the stash and I should drag it out someday.

Good luck...

Looks really good.  Thanks for posting the link.  I wasn't aware of Captain Sijan's story.

Thanks,

John

Beautiful! But swap out the AIM-9Js for some AIM-9Es. The AIM-9J did not make its‘ combat debut until September 1972, and Sijan was shot down in 1968.

Just outstanding, thank you for the post and photos, especially the info on young Captain Lance.

A very good man that died way too soon. Rest in peace, Lance.

Fantastic!  I read up on Capt Sijan.  Faulty fuses?  Man, that's just bad luck. Really nice job.

Thanks,

John
