I still need to touch up the B-25.  There’s just some small loose ends that needs some attention.  The decals  are the next step to completion.

Toshi, the B-25 is coming along swimingly. I am very glad to hear Mrs Toshi is doing better and I am also pleased to see you including your grandson in your work. What a wonderful bunch of news all around.

BK

Thank you BrandonK, I thank you for the read and reply, you’re a good friend.  As for Mrs. Toshi, we are ecstatic that the tumor has subsided.  Now we just need to concentrate on Mrs. Toshi’s 3rd. and final (I hope) surgery.  Including my grandson Ezra in the WIP’s is just a natural progression.  I keep reading in this forum as well as other forums, members issuing forth their concerns of the next generation, if their are any, taking on the modeling mantle.  Sadly, in a digital world, we see less and less of the younger generations inclusion into hobbies like philatelic, numismatic to name a few interest that the younger generation find as bothersome or boreing at best!

There are days and or evenings that Ezra and I quietly sit together going over my stamp collection and or coin collection.  Some of my stamps range from within a century ago (He enjoys the colorful stamps with animals) while my coin collection goes back to the Byzantine empire.  I have a coin that was minted during the time of Christ which of course is minted during Herod‘s reign.  He may not know exactly what we’re talking about but if I consistently go over these philatelic and numismatic items with him, he’ll remember his time with his “Papa”, and even more.

At first my intuition told me Ezra’s attention span would not include building a complex kit.  Boy, was I wrong.  He not only watched and contributed (Follow directions) to the WIP, he comprehended the steps needed to complete each step.  ie: Paint, wash brush, dry brush, and prepare for next color or step as needed.  Aircraft seems to be his favorite genre to build in.

Of course without question, I’ll overindulge Ezra with his watching of cartoons like the “Paw Patrol”.  lol!  Until the completion of this build, I want to personally thank you once again for your friendship and support of my WIP.

Your friend, Toshi & Ezra

To my fellow forum members,

Mrs. Toshi and I do not have Ezra our grandson during the weekends.  So it’s quite time as well as rest time for the both of us.  Mrs. Toshi plays her computer games and it‘s times like these in that I can hit the bench.  Once Sunday evening rolls around upon the arrival of Ezra, we welcome him with open arms and great excitement.

Ezra runs around the house and showers us with hugs kisses!  lol!  Today he helped me paint the B-25 Mitchell’s canopy frame.  I think he did a great job.  Of course he held my hand while I guided his hand and laughing joyfully as we sat together admiring our finished product.  Next up, decal time.  Tell us what you think and or please critique our work.

Greg

Good to see you back at it, Toshi.

Your B-25 looks very metallic. Coming along great!

I keep speaking of that Tamiya stand, I keep forgetting to tell you I finally broke down and bought one (it was your fault). It sat in box for a long time. Like you, wasn't sure what to do with it. And like you, I use it all the time now.

I think of you almost every time I stick something on it since you were my insipiration to buy it. Wink

Yes, my good friend, it’s great to be back.  The feeling is quite mutual!  I took the B-25 photos outdoors hence it‘s very metallic shine.  lol! No really, it is actually more subdue then it looks in a photo.  That’s why I liked using this paint in the past.  It might not be authentic, but I enjoy the way that it looks.

As for the Tamiya paint stand, I’m most honored that I was your inspiration in your purchase of it.  lol!  The stand is a stroke of genius on Tamiya’s part. It works great in the spray booth but 90% of the time, it’s used during the construction aspect of my build.  And of course when I take WIP pics of it.

Greg, Thank you for being a good freind to me and especially my family.  FSM Forum Members like you really makes my day!

Here are seven photos that represents what I’ve done with the MM rattle can.  I still need to clean up the build.  Until then, please enjoy the photos!

To my fellow forum members,

Coming back to the bench after a short absence is very refreshing.  I got a chance to look over the build during my haitus and was contemplating on what paint I would be utilizing.  I finally decided on going with a rattle can.  Now it’s been quite a while since I used one so this would be a interesting challenge.  Model Master #28141 AMC Sterling Silver Metallic 3D.  Wow, that was a mouthful.

I‘ve of course used this in the past, and was very impressed with the results.  It shows the NMF very naturally.  You be the judge.  Below is a few photos of the B-25 in it‘s entirety.

It's looking good Toshi!Yes  I hope Mrs. Toshi is doing better.  I got one of those Tamiya paint stands when they first came out. It was the best twenty bucks I've spent on this hobby. Your build will look considerably better than mine did back in the distant past.

Thank you lewbud.  This project is coming along, the next step is to prime, clean up any discrepancies   and lay down the first coat.

Mrs. Toshi is doing better now that we know the tumor has subsided.  We just have to get over this next obstacle and we both shall be fine.  My good friend, thank you very for asking.

As for the Tamiya paint stand, I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby with my 40% off coupon at which I paid approximately the same price cost as you.  At first, I had no idea how to use the stand!  lol!  But now, it is a mainstay in my builds.  Thank you lewbud for not only sharing but for your concern of Mrs. Toshi.

This is in the November 2018 edition of Scale Aircraft Modeller.

Thank you for the photos!  I didn’t know that part of the nacelles were yellow.  That’s a hard color to AB.  I’ll have to think things over for that one.

There was also this old ESCI 1/72 decal sheet. Unfortunately, it was printed in black, not red. I tried to re-print it in red some years ago, but it was a failure.

Chris

Wow, in 1/72.  Personally, at that scale due to my eyes and shaken hands, I could not place the Benito/Hirohito decal on.  That is a very interesting decal sheet dogsbody.  Thank you for sharing this interesting item especially the National Geogrphic photo.

This image is from an old National Geographic magazine. I'd have to dig through the old magazine stash to find it.

MrStecks

Hey Toshi, sorry to hear about Mrs. Toshi (I've been away from the forums for a while so I'm just catching up).  My thoughts and well wishes to you both.

This build is looking great.  I'll be following, as I have this kit in my stash too.  Probably won't get to it for a while, but I'll be taking notes.

Cheers, Mark

Toshi, what is that device holding the airplane? Do you use that to hold the airplane when you paint?

It's a Tamiya painting stand, comes as set.  I have it too, works great.  Mine is covered in paint!  Lol.

After seeing Toshi use his paint stand, I had to get one.  Its been great for both painting and to hold the model during assembly.

Sailing_Dutchman

Looks familierStick out tongue did you have any trouble attaching the engines to the wings? I have a large seam/gap/ridge that I am having trouble getting rid of. I did find that the best way to attach the cowls was 2 part epoxy. I hope it helps: S_D

No Sailing_Dutchman, there were no issues in regards to the attachment of “engines to the wings.” I want to thank you so very much for all of your suggestions.  It’s greatly appreciated.
