Corsica B-25 color question and help.
Posted by NYFranky on Saturday, November 17, 2018 8:31 AM

Didn't realize my intro would be long, so if not interested in reading about me skip to the question.  Lol!

So first a little background on myself. Been into building since 2007, started with WWII armor (My grandfather was a WWII vet. that had spent the entire duration of the war in germany) so it was a great time building armor and discussing about the vechicles he was on and saw in action which were amazing stories to say the least.  I believe he was around 89 when we had these conversations and his memory of those days were incrediable to say the least.  He passed in 2009 but will never forget the conversations and how into my work he was.  Also did a WWII ship, an F-16, then into automotive mostly. I always strive for exact replicas and my cars are all painted in factory period correct paint.

Did a Corsair back around 2013 which got me a first place in a show in Truro Canada.  I I would've been happy with a 3rd, was not expecting a first.  Did well that show, first place in auto stock and also a best in show for a Barracuda.

So with all this being said here's my question.

I've read about the B-25s in Corsica and how they painted in the field (can't remember the excat name now) RAF over bare aluminum, with the interior being like an olive drab. As far as acrylics what is the best paint match for the RAF green, the bare aluminum and interior green?

When this model is completed and show you members here or enter it into a show I want my colors to be spot on!  I guess what would also help me the most is what the bare aluminum looks like in person.  Is it polished look and reflective like a mirror?  Dull and silver in apperance with no reflective qualities.

I'm comfortable using any laquaer, acrylic, and enamel.  So if you think one looks better than the other let me know.  I have never seen this aircraft in person so it's hard for me to chose colors since I've read many articles how this looks better than that and so on.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and all info is welcomed!

Alclad II for bare metal.

Pretty good reference here:  https://www.maam.org/airshow/b25.htm

Thanks,
