Bish, your clearing em‘ off the bench! I have quite a few on the assembly line but no time to wrap them up before years end.  Another nice RAF bird to add to your display!

Well done, Martin.  I like the Blenheim too, but too bad about the salt issues.  I've never trusted that method.

Time to wrap up this one. I have been going full on to get both this and 2 other builds complete by the end of the year so i can start 2019 afresh and i just about managed it. That along with the issues i have had with all 3 meant i just plowed on and didn't get any updates. But now i am just glad they are done.

I finally got the decals on after digging out the decal sheet from the other kit but even though i was more careful i still had issues with them coming apart in places. I dffinetly won't be useing Tamiya aircraft decals again. I do have 3 more Tamiya mossies which fortunatly i have am marking sets for and i have now ordered some am stencil sets.

Here she is with markings on, main issues is around the wing roundels on one of the right side which have had little bits come away.

I gave it a light weathering, these aircraft arrived new at Horsham St Faith in Norfolk in May 1942 and were only there for 6 months before 105 Sqn moved on, so i wanted to depict an aircraft that had not been long in service. I added a bomb trolley fom Flightpath and just about managed to find 3 figures that fit the scene, though i really am now scraping the barrel.

As you can see, i have not added a name plate. I am having priner issues at the moment so i'll added the plate once thats sorted out.

Thanks for looking and following along.

'm slightly over due an update, so here it is.

With everything together and cleaned up, i masked off ready for painting. I use an Eduard mask set designed for this kit, but that set does not take into account the blisters on the side windows so i had to use some liquid mask there.

the cockpit frames were painted interiour green then the kit primed.

And then the camp painted useing Xtracolor enamels.

Now time for the decals.

I also have a single Type B bomb trolley from Flightpath redy for paint.

Thanks guys.

Clint, ye, it is a fair bit, thought to be honest the cockpit part is not really needed. The kit is very nice itself and you won't see much in there. But i have learned my lessons sincei bought this a few years back.

Thanks pawel. I bought the kit at a time when i was just buying AM for every new kit i bought without even looking at it. This resin set does have the advantage of having the entry hatch open and so saving me having to cut the kit, but the kit doesn't really need it.

Nice job on that one, hope mine looks as good.

Hello Bish!

Your model is lookin' good! What was your main reason for using the resin here?

Some time ago I got an unusually good deal on a Hasegawa 1/72 Mossie B (not even 7 Euros...). I wanted to build it with the little son of my brother. Ended up finishing it myself, it looked like this when done:

Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

Thanks Patrick. The resin part is exactly like the kit part only with more detail. The clear kit parts fit in from the outside

Hi, Bish - What a great project, coming along very well. I never gave it any thought before, but how does one attach the clear plastic side windows in the resin nose bits? Do you have to rely on something like clear paint?

Looking forward to seeing this one go through your assembly line, I always learn something new and useful to me. Thanks for the photos.

Tamiya 1/72nd Mosquito B Mk IV Complete
Posted by Bish on Saturday, November 17, 2018 2:48 PM

I started this year by building my first Tamiya aircraft kit, now i am on my second.

I am replaceing the kit cockpit with a resin one from pavla. The resin replaces the whole front section of the fuselage, which are seperate pieces in the Tamiya kit allowing for the different versions they produce.

Along with resin parts to replace the interior.

I am also fitting a resin bomb bay, also from Pavla.

Even though i have an Eduard PE set with pre painted parts, i decided to only use the IP and paint the rest. The resin parts are a perfect fit, not somthing i am used to with resin cockpits. You can see a gap between the upper and lower sections, behind the pilots seat. This should be blocked off by the end of the bomb bay, and fortunatly the Pavla one does this. But if you don't use the bay, this will need blocking off, which the pavla pit instructions don't mention.

And then with the bomb bay fitted, the fuselage halves were put together. A bit of a tight fit, but nothing major.

Just a little bit of cleaning up of the seams to do before fitting wings and tail.
