1/48 Scale Tamiya Mosquito FB Mk. VI - FINISHED
Posted by Ole on Monday, December 17, 2018 10:19 AM

Here is a just completed model. Sorry about the poor images. I did not have enough time to set up my normal photo setup.

The kit itself is awesome and near flawless. I did replace the seats with Quickboost resin seats. I also painted on all the main markings using Montex masks. I like working with those even though I don't like their canopy masks. The vinyl is too thick for anything that curves to lay down flat and give a good seal.

Paint is a mix of Tamiya and Gunze Mr. Hobby. Flory washes, some pigments and additional weathering in areas.

The plane was flown by Lt. D. Button and Flg Off L. Mellor in France 1944.

Thanks for looking.

That's a beautiful Mossie.  Really like the camo.
I agree about Montex masks.  I used them for the first time on the Stuka I just completed, and didn't like them.  The thickness is a problem and I found they also left a lot of sticky residue on the canopy.

Cheers,
Mark

Very nice!  Thanks for the montex tip.  I have them for my  Defiant.  I'll look again for another vendor.

Thanks,

John

Turned out great Ole. I agree that Montex should just stick with markings and such. Sometimes they leave residue too.

Great looking build. I've just gotten to the point where I'm going to start painting all the major markings myself. I'll keep those Montex masks in mind.
