Very well done. I like the base too.

Look at all those Japanese flags!  This is a nice clean build.

This kit was on my wish list for Christmas.... apparently, I've been a bad boy… I only got the USS Cole.  I didn’t get the Cole but the pun was irresistible – and I still want the Hellcat.
Nice job BTW – big fan of the Grumman Cats.

Thanks,

John

The base is from Hobby Master. Not sure if it is still available.

Cheers.

Look real nice. Another reference for when I get to my F6F-5 "Late".

Did the antenna wire just not show up in the pictures?

I also would like to know where you got the "deck" base.

Frank, yes the color scared me a bit after I sprayed it!! The base is from Hobby Master and I don't remember when I picked it up.

Max, I used the Eduard stencils and they were fine. To my eye the font and color of the Minsi III decal looked better.  I also used the stars and bars and kill markings from Aeromaster. Personel preference I guess.

Thank's Wink

Solid build! I’ve got the -3 in the stash, and have always enjoyed the rugged looks of a Hellcat!

Do you mind me asking why you mixed kit decals with aftermarket? I was under the impression that Eduard has very nice decals out of the box.

Thanks for sharing!

Very well done, Stephen. I used that same dark sea blue on a Monogram F6F-5. I was startled at how green the color is. Where did you get the carrier deck for your display?

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

I just completed this one over the Christmas break. A nice kit of the Hellcat. I am happy to have the -3 and nightfighter in the stash.

I used a mix of Aeromaster and kit decals. Model Masters dark sea blue enamel and future for the clear. This was my first attempt to add additional rivets with the "rosie the riveter" pounce wheel tool.

Here is my atempt to replicate Captain Daivd McCampbell's Minsi III.
