Thanks lewbud!  I finished the P-40 up a while ago, it's on the GB page.  Not the greatest looking P-40 ever, my Mom had passed away while I was working on it, so I kind of just did the best I could at the time and finished it up.

Thanks rangerj!  I'm very fortunate to be able to spend my Saturdays volunteering at the museum and helping keep her flying!  Me and the kiddo are attending the Mother's day pancake breakfast in Oswego NY.  We'll fly from Geneseo to Oswego in Whiskey 7. 

Kayda, your C-47 Wiskey 7 is a work of art. Going for a flight in the real thing gives you a sense of the "History" it represents, and that is an experience very few people get. As an aside, I can and do appreciate your home decor!! 

I landed up donating Mini W7 to the museum this past weekend.  It will be seen by a lot more people than it would in my living room.  One of the other volunteers got a few shots of Mini W7 with big W7. 

Now I have an excuse to build another one!

I landed up getting a bit annoyed with the fact that at night in my poorly lit living room you can barely see "Mini W7".  So I decided to add some LED's to the case.  I wanted them to "blend" in, so I opted to make them look like spotlights.  They are actually meant to be used inside a pick up truck bed.  I chopped off the mounting tabs, added some scratch built "legs" and painted them yellow.  I added more fake grass to cover most of the wire which runs to a switch mounted on the back of the display base. 

I've been volunteering at the museum that owns Whiskey 7, and I'm officially known as "the one that built the Whiskey 7 model"  Lol.

Thanks John!  I surprised myself with what I was able to do.  It certainly helped that I had well over 200 pics of the real W7, and I've seen her several times.

Keyda, I just found this and am amazed.  You did a great job and its no wonder the museum would like to talk to you about it.  Love the little details like the gust locks and the donation bomb.  Beautiful work and you should be proud.

I do have a question in regards to the clear case that you have. Who made that?

 

Thanks!  Me and hubby made the case.  I just picked up a 2 by 4 foot piece of MDF board, and two 20 by 32 inch pieces of acrylic sheet at Home Depot.  Did a bunch of measuring, routed out the base with my Dremel, and actually used my Tamiya scribing tool to score the acrylic sheet.  Worked much better than the tool I bought which was supposed to do the trick.  Turned out fairly well for our first crack at making a display case.

kensar, Most people are like Oh that's neat, and well that's usually the end of it.  Lol.  I have quite the collection of built models in my living room, and no one that actually comes to my house is interested in them.  They look at me like I'm nuts cause there is so many, lol.  They are neatly hung and placed on shelves though, not all right on top of eachother or anything.  That's why I share my stuff on a few groups on facebook, and here, otherwise no one would see them, lol.  I really enjoy looking at other peoples builds.
